Luis responded promptly and said they had a freon leak and the freon metering device was bad. He said they could replace the cooling coil, but due to the age and old type freon, they should really consider a new system. So, the son-in-law said he was going to call four or five companies. "Due diligence", he called it. Anyway, after all that, he found that Air Smart gave them the best value after all. I guess the old man still knows something.
The son-in-law said not only was the price great, but he really trusted Luis. He gave Luis the key to the house, so he could replace the system while they were on vacation.
When they got back everything looked great and the air conditioning felt a lot more comfortable than before. Best of all, Papa, didn't need to lend them any money. Haha.
We tried calling the company we had used in the past but were told it would be two days before they could come out. At that point we immediately went on Angie's List and found Luis Esparza and Air Smart Systems. He had great reviews and was local. We called and explained our dilemma. Luis was remarkable. He assured us that he would be at our house and have the problem resolved before the showing that evening. He got here a few minutes before his original estimate and quickly identified the problem. Not only that, he showed me how I could actually do the main repair if I wanted in order to save a few bucks. With his expert advice I started on a drain issue under a sink while he went in the attic to fix the pitch on the lines themselves.
Within an hour not only was the problem solved but Luis was offering to come back and do a few other minor tweaks to improve the overall performance or tell me how I could do them myself if I'd prefer that option. What started out as panic earlier in the day turned into a mere $148 fix and a wealth of tips that I can use from now on.
If you are in need of an honest, reliable and experienced air conditioning and heating man then Luis Esparza is your guy. My only disappointment is that we didn't know about him sooner. We told Luis that when we move down to central Texas he needs to extend his coverage area!
Oh, and when we checked our former service company's reviews on Angie's List we were appalled at what we saw. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with Air Smart Systems.

The next day Luis and Travis from Air Smart Systems showed up when they said they would. They worked on the air conditioner but the real problem was a slow drain in the kids' bathroom that was causing the water from the air conditioner to not drain properly. It created pressure that forced the water outside and even back into the attic. I had put a plant outside where the water was dripping because I thought that was normal - oops! Well the plant looks good but Luis told me that anytime water is dripping from outside pipes to call because something is not right with the system (I now know this). Air Smart Systems cleaned out the clogged drain in the bathroom and repaired the drain line. Then they inspected all three of my heating and cooling systems and replaced the air filters. They did all of this and spent a good part of their afternoon here all for a great price and on a unit they didn't originally install.
There are air conditioning and heating companies all over the metroplex and we have used many of them. However, it is difficult to find one like Air Smart Systems who are trustworthy, reliable, knowledgeable, reasonably priced and even pleasant to talk to. I would definitely recommend them!

With a terminally ill pet in the house, getting the a/c working quickly was a top priority, especially in 104 degree heat. I could not have been happier. I will definitely be using Air Smart for all our heating and a/c needs. Thanks Luis!
