"Along the lines of this members comments, I first desire to comment on the "requirement to use only my list of paints", I SUGGESTED to use certain kinds of paints being the FACT that by using the better quality paints I can be assured that the outcome of the job is of much better quality and longevity than a cheap paint that I WILL NOT guarrentee. The idea that I was just trying to get out the door is competely inconsistent in that I kept coming up with additional questions with to his wife in regards to interior items in which I went up & down the stairs a number of times. If he'd been inside with us the whole time instead of on his phone outside, he may have known better. I don't do gutter and garage doors because there are plenty of reputable companies in the area that can do those items quicker and better than I. I WORK ALONE for the most part, hense I opt out of certain items of a job so that it works out better and quicker for the client. I'm not quite sure what "the member" is suggesting on the "won't source materials" comment. I would've been getting all the materials for the project, so I can only believe that he has me confused with another contractor. I know they had numberous contractors scheduled that day, and in the time frame I was there, they staggered 2 other contractors to check out they're project. I passed on the job because: I do have back issues being that I have a herniated disk and at the time a bulging disk as well. Doing that kind of work on a 2-story ceiling was out of the question for me. Since I tend to work alone, the job was really to much for me to try to commit to in the time line that the customer needed to finish it by. When I originally spoke to the wife, the list really wasn't at all what I experienced at the house. I would have certainly declined to even come out and "waste a cliente time" if the project had been properly explained, being the actual size of the job, all the details-one thing that wasn't mentioned at all was the decking that they wanted to change out as well, windows being changed out, the fact that it's a 2-story house in regards to changing out all the exterior siding, and changing out all the interior doors and base trim. Much information was delayed until I showed up at the house. When I spoke to the wife, she asked me how long I thought I'd be there, and my response was, "I shouldn't take more than an hour to go through your project with you". I was there for an hour and a half. Really don't think the extra 1/2 hour lends to the statement of "was trying to duck out". The reason I am on Angie's List with predominately "A" ratings is that I try my best not to take on more than what is reasonable for me which, hopefully in turn works out better for the client in the sense that a company better suited for their work will come about. This is the mindset in which I must approach business so that all come out the better. Unfortunately, I get behind on getting estimates out because I am doing all phases of operation myself. My work is never 8-5, as anyone that runs a small business can attest. I hope "the Member" is able to get exactly what they want in the time frame they desire. As for me, comments from this "Member" I do take personally because my business is personal, and I get no gratificaiton from my work unless the client has a smile on their face(s).
