Hi! My name is Marian Mayer and I founded Waterloo Landscape and Design in 2010. As a local business that relies on our reputation, we strive to provide excellent customer service, reasonable rates and professional results. Our goal is make your property an outdoor living environment that is beautiful and sustainable in the Austin, Texas climate. Whether you need a one time cleanup or new landscaping, we can help you. Please contact us anytime for a free estimate or consultation. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you! We offer flexible payment options and accept cash, check and credit cards.

"I would not recommend Waterloo to anyone. Waterloo has failed to assume responsibility for their failure to provide a design that fits within the scope established. While we did receive a design, the cost of installation was more than double what we told Marian our budget was. We were given the excuse "scope creep can get out of hand quickly." The scope of our project has minimal adjustments, certainly not enough to cause scope creep to account for the cost. What we asked to add was a single planter, a speaker and projector, minor additional lighting, and an additional 530 square feet of turf. Certainly not enough adjustments to account for an additional $30,000 in costs. Additionally, at no point in the design phase did Marian indicate to us that the scope of our project would not fit within the budget. Nor were we informed that the requested additions would result in us going out of budget. Marian and the team at waterloo are not taking any responsibility for their failure to provide a design that was within the scope/budget established at the begin of the project, nor for their responsibility to advise along the way that the asks (again, which were minor) were likely pushing our project beyond our budget. Marian communicated that "It is not possible for me to know the costs of a project as we work through ideas and options together." However, Marian is hired as an industry designer who should have a realistic understanding of what something should cost. After all, what is the purpose of providing a budget if it is not possible for you to know the costs and if your design will fit within that budget? While I certainly don't expect you to be able to know exactly what the cost will be, providing a design that is more than double the proposed budget is unacceptable for a professional. This company cannot be trusted to provide a design that is executable within your scope/budget, and they will refuse to take responsibility. Avoid at all costs, unless budget is not a factor."

EB Construction takes exceptional pride in every job they perform. We are a very one on one company catering to the customers needs and preferences. The job is not complete until the expectations of the work are met from the customers point of view. Our standards are set to a higher level with professional and courteous service. Call on us for any type of construction or repair. We have a vast knowledge of every type of construction from start to finish.

"They were the best contractors we've ever hired. They met with me within a few days of my request, and discussed at length with me what I wanted. They were very knowledgeable about how to control water drainage away from our new garage. They immediately came up with a plan, readily responded to questions I had, made a schedule, and worked hard to meet that schedule. The finished product is beautiful AND its drainage capabilities, mightily tested this past weekend when a flood of 4.5 inches quickly fell, passed with flying colors. I awaited such a flood before reviewing so I could see how it would perform. I was pleased. I had one or two concerns during the process that they readily resolved."

Pavers and Hardscaping questions, answered by experts

You can use regular sand as the base for your pavers and in between pavers to seal the joints. Many pros reach for polymeric sand, also known as all-purpose sand, because it has been sifted and washed to remove impurities. But you can easily level ground and fill gaps between pavers for a clean look using regular sand, sometimes at a lower cost.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.

Depending on material and design complexity, costs range from $10 to $30 per square foot. Installation labor increases the total.

If you’re installing pavers over an existing concrete slab, you don’t need to affix the majority of the pavers, but you should use a polyurethane-based adhesive on the border pavers. Polyurethane will expand and contract with temperature changes, which will help keep the pavers firmly in place throughout the year. It’s also strong enough to stand up to foot traffic. You’ll use polymeric sand between the non-border pavers to keep them in place and prevent shifting.
