My experience with them was fifty-fifty. They are just slow. It was just a slow process. When we built our house, they just happen to be the people that did the landscaping and sprinkler system. I really do not use them for anything. I just had to do because they are who the builder contracted. I had to call them to come out to fix something. I am not able to say that I am going to use them in the future. It was just a service call. It did not cost anything. When they finally got here, everything was great. They did a good job.

They were very reasonably priced and did a very good job for us. They were prompt and courteous. They did the job on time and finished the job on time. They were very efficient. They were here when they said they would be. They got the job done in 2 days which is what they told us. They did a really great job. They put our yard back together because they have to dig holes for all the piping. You could even barely tell that our yard has been disturbed. They were just a really good company. Everything has been terrific. We've had no problems with the sprinkler system. We had to call them back out once to adjust one of the heads right after they put it in. They came out and fixed. There's no problem whatsoever.

Owner (Mac) showed up on time every day of the project. He was very helpful and informative with the water scheduling and grass care instructions. He made very good suggestions on flower bed stone selections also. All was completed and very professionally accomplished. We would highly recommend.

We live on a very large acreaged lot and with the extreme drought last year had lost our entire backyard (grass). We called Houston Lawn and Garden for a quote to re-sod our backyard. We asked for a recommendation for a type grass that could withstand the direct sun as this part of the yard receives sun all day and we have multiple dogs who are on the yard. We received a great recommendation regarding the particular grass we should install. We also asked for a quote on an irrigation system for just the back. We also asked what the cost would be to do the entire yard. We were given both quotes one for the backyard and one if we added the front yard. There was no pressure to do both and in fact we were told if we didn't want to install the entire system this year could add on to it as we wanted in the coming years.
Quote was delivered quickly by e-mail and we decided to do our entire yard. We waited approximately 10 days once we gave them the go ahead. We were called a day before and told when the crew would arrive. Crew arrived on time and started with the irrigation system. By the end of day one the irrigation system had been installed. Installation was perfect and to our specifications. The crew was careful to place grass and dirt back into trenches where pipes were laid so that ground stayed level on our front and side yards and at end of day one you could barely tell the yard had been disturbed to place the piping into the ground.
In addition to the irrigation system, they also tilled and re-graded the back lawn which was a total disaster from the drought and our dogs. The yard was leveled and prepared for the sod installation. Day two the workers installed the backyard. Back yard looks great -- installation was done efficiently and completed on time. Only one incident during the job which had to do with crews equipment -- a breakdown of the lift to remove the sod from the truck leaking fluid on the street and when they went through our two large gates (these are ranch type 10-foot gates) the crew knocked both gates off the hinges. Crew also left pallets on our property but they came back and picked those up on our request.

I really liked them. The man, Anderson, was very accommodating. He explained things on how to fertilize the grass. He was on time, even though I was far away. He was very efficient and friendly.

I met Mac for an estimate. from the beginnning, he treated me like family. recommended cutting back here, and there to save several hundreds vs what i had wanted done. he was onsite several times to ensure the work is done the way we talked about and was there when any unexpected obstacle reared its head and we talked over possible solutions. he gave me his recommendations but respected my judgement call. i opted not to plant anything due to the draught but had the flower beds defined. Mac made sure i was under budget yet still had the most result with what i was limitted to.

i didn't go against his expertise in areas i didn't know. he took it upon himself to plan for future needs without any extra costs, and he would have his crew made it possible for future growth. his sod was the ultimate in quality for less than others i called (8 locations). his crew was fast, and careful. throughout the whole process, Mac was like a dad who watched over his kid's property. i couldn't have asked for a better experience. he's straight forward, no nonsense, and would get a bit on edge if you're about to go down the wrong path (same thing any dad would do) :o). from business standpoint, he probably doesn't want to be blamed for something that he advised against :o)...though because he cared about his work, and his customers are also on the top of his list. :o)

i'd recommend houston grass for quality, care and price.

The owener came to the house to estimate th Job, we came to an agreement on price. He also provided instructions for the care for the first two months. They scheduled and install the grass on the date planned. The forman confirmed the watering instructions and care. Water day and not fertilizer of other things for two months. The Grass immediatly began to deteroiate and failed to thrive. After two week i began asking Houston grass (less than 5 miles) to come look at the problem and advise. I called their office over 10 times, got promices of sending some one to look at the grass and tell mewhat was wrong. The grass front and back edge to edge died off. The area in the fron which had not been replaced continued to thrive. I finally sent a demand letter with detailed Photos of the issue. The owner apparently went by in late october and told me that it was greyleaf fungus. The grass had come to from the Farm with the desease and it died within 30-40 days. THe owner said he would agree to replace the grass at his cost. But that has never happened.

Repair was leaking so they had to return. The service person said the pressure vacume breaker was originally installed backwards so I had the original installer come back to check it. It was not installed backwards. The original installation was correct.

Overall Mac Faust is fabulous. He comes out and does several things. Mac is very thorough and just guides us in the right direction.

Overall Mac Faust does a wonderful job. He is extremely professional and always on time. I would recommend him to everyone.
