Authentic Plaster Pool

Disappointed with communication, supervision & w/final product. The only time we saw the company’s owner was during the initial visit/bid. The start day was changed 3 times, & the start time (am/pm) was also unclear. This made it hard to manage our personal schedules & the response to this concern w/company’s owner (over the phone) was ‘this is not like a Dentist appointment’ ... Of the 2 different staffs that showed, one for the prep & different one for the plaster, none could speak English, which made our questions/concerns impossible to discuss, such as; they broke a step with their jackhammer & they broke the fountain pipe: both eventually were repaired,(not perfectly) and only after several phone calls and a variety of excuses by the owner. The final plaster on the pool bottom has trough marks & footprints, various shading of blue to grey. Calls & photos of this were sent to owner for attention and were ignored with comments like this, “we’ve been doing this for 30 years so we certainly should know what we’re doing better than you”. The owner never came back to supervise or inspect the work or offer any actions or correction of the pool bottom. We paid our bill but are not pleased and can not recommend.

We have remodeled our entire residence and this was the last piece in the equation. These guys were by far the best contractor we had dealt with. The project was extremely large in scope as well as having a number of elements which needed to be coordinated by Authentic Plaster & Tile. We were communicated to throughout the process such that we rarely needed to ask "what next". We couldn't be happier with the experience or the end-result.

In the fall of 2013 we had our pool resurfaced by Authentic Plaster and Tile. In the fall of 2015 we noticed some discoloration of the pool surface. This spring when we got in the pool, we could feel the pitting of the surface. The pool is now covered with brown pitted areas that look like the pool prior to the resurfacing. We called the rep here in Houston and were unable to get him to return calls until I emailed the main office. He said that the problem was probably due to minerals in Houston water or improper care of the pool. We have been pool owners for 28 years, so are not novices in caring for a pool. He asked me to text him pictures. I did on July 7, 2016. I never heard back from him. I am supposed to have a 10 year warranty on the resurfacing... 

Left yellow stains on plaster. Said they would come and fix and never came and didn't call me back. All prep work was done before they did their work and still charged 3800.

I received a mailer from the company and called about services. Jim Pierce returned my call within a few days, talked about what he and his company could do, and we arranged a visit to look at the pool and receive a bid. I received a bid a few days following the visit with an option for a discount if the work was done in January. I tend to be very detail oriented from the work that I do in healthcare. I found Jim to be precise, forthcoming, accommodating, and patient with me as I asked a lot of questions. He provided documents regarding his company, insurance coverages, and a list of references. I was able to call and verify that his work was done previously as described by him to others and that they were more than satisfied with the outcome.

Jim gave me a schedule, weather permitting, informed me clearly about the issues associated with each choice of material (there are many great choices, and the upgrades I got were more than worth the cost), and held to the schedule. The pool looks brand new and the plaster is gorgeous.

Jim's pricing was well under others I received bids from and his work is solid. I would do this again!

Went great! We got a list of references and visited a completed pool project in our area with invitation from a previous client of Authentic Plaster and Tile. He also was very pleased with the experience and finished product. All work was explained in detail. All workmen were polite, efficient and worked as teams. They arrived on time. Each crew was very good about cleaning up their materials and work area. The finished work appears flawless on our 33 year old pool. We are very pleased with the final product. The new plaster is much better in appearance than just a renewal of the older surface. We were given a range of options and shown samples of a variety of plasters on a sample board and with an album of pictures of other projects. Communication was excellent and all questions were promptly answered throughout the process. Drain covers and water jet outlets were replaced with new. Rust from underlying rebar was dug out and repaired for the new surface. Work was performed exactly as described. We highly recommend Authentic Plaster and Tile. Some, not all, aspects of the work were performed with partner companies who similarly were polite, efficient and professional.

My 26,000 gallon pool was built in 1993 and had never been re-plastered. It was in bad shape. I didn't know anything about getting the pool re-plastered, so I started by getting 6 estimates. Over the course of meeting with 6 different companies, reading lots of marketing material on the different plaster types, and doing my own research, I was able to narrow down my choices to two companies based upon price, warranty and referrals.
Jim, from Authentic Plaster Pool, gave me an address close to my home that I could visit to see the same finish I was thinking about using in my pool. (There are lots of finish options!). After visiting that home, Jim followed up with me to see if I had any questions.
What I liked about Jim and his company was the interest in getting my business. When I gave him the okay, his crew showed up a couple of days later and had my pool drained, chiseled and fully prepped. No mess, no sign that workers were ever in my yard. Two days later, the plaster crew showed up and finished in one day and started filling the pool.
The crew was able to save all of my old tile which saved me considerable dollars. The pool looks fantastic and I'm very pleased with the results, the overall cost, and my 15 year warranty.
Jim provided clear directions on the steps I need to take with a newly plastered pool in a word document for easy reference. He's also been responsive to questions after the job was finished.
I highly recommend them.

I'm disappointed with Authentic Plaster Pool. They had the most expensive bid and I got sloppy work. They were supposed to replace my new nozzles and they didn't do that and the supervisor was right there, I don't why he'd let them put the old nozzles on. I had to call him twice to had the old nozzles replaced.
