Larry Steward

Let me begin with I chose Larry even though he was a little higher than other paint contractors and boy am I glad I did.  My house is a 1958 two story wood exterior home.  It had not been painted since 2003 (10 years) and was showing major signs of decay and wood rot.  Larry and his crew spent approximately a 5 1/2 weeks working on this house.  At least 3 ½ weeks was nothing but prep work.  I was impressed that he took the time to remove all the old peeling paint and rotted wood.  He removed all the old calking and replaced with new.  He primed the house and then painted.  Every day throughout this process he informed me of what was going on and what was done.  He cleaned up after himself and did not clutter up my property with tools and junk.  Larry is a great painter and his attention to detail is amazing.  After the job was completed he conducted a complete walk around with me of the job.  He identified a few areas that he caught that needed additional attention (I did not notice it).  About a month after completion I noticed a light shaded area that looked as if it needed some additional paint.  I called Larry and he was back within a week and corrected the very minor issue.  Larry is forever now my painter and handyman.  I have referred him to friends and they were very happy with Larry as well.  I will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. 

It went well from beginning to end. He gave an estimate before beginning work. Then as I requested more work, he gave me estimates of the added work. He is a perfectionist in his painting.

We brought a nice storm door and we needed a handyman to help us install it. Overall it was a good experience. Larry is very nice and professional.

Larry was a total pleasure to work with.  We started with a very careful walk around/walk through of the house, and Larry pointed out his scope of services during the walk. He gave us options on whether or not certain parts of the job were necessary or optional. As he did the job, and he found small things he thought needed attention, he would take care of it even if we had not specifically discussed it.  He told us his basic premise was he promised a first class professional job, and he needed to be proud of his work.  It was totally refreshing to find someone who cared so much about the quality of his work vs. just getting it done to minimum standards.
    He and his crew worked diligently from 9-5 every day, and always cleaned up and stored their equipment at the end of each day.  They were always polite and would always keep us informed.
    I will most likely have Larry work on some masonry work that needs to be addressed next spring. 

The project went smooth.  Called him and left message, he called back and gave me an estimate.  They came out and did the work.

We purchased an older home for our college student. It was in desperate need of a kitchen makeover. I contacted Larry and he responded immediately. We purchased the materials and Larry worked his magic. The total job took longer than we had, so we gave Larry access to our house to finish up. all work was satisfactorily completed abd we would use Larry again if the need arises.

We found Larry on Angie's List. We found ourselves in need of a handyman when the renters of one of our Lubbock homes left the place in shambles. We live out of town and needed lots of extra help. Larry's name came with some great recommendations, and now we know why.
First, he is responsive. He answered the phone while he was on a ladder, painting (for another customer). When I explained our situation, he agreed to come out to the house that night to look at what needed to be done.
Second, he is knowledgeable about many areas. While he walked through the house, he saw things that needed fixing that we hadn't noticed. While some of the items (holes in doors, sawed off fence gates, broken wooden bathroom drawers, torn off window screens, e.g.) are obvious, other things were not. He noticed that the front door jamb had been broken and semi-repaired, for instance. The repair wasn't going to hold up, and he suggested a way to fix it.
Third, he is honest, and he does what he says he'll do. He had good help from his associate, Terry, and together, they delivered what they had promised. We gave Larry the key to the house when we needed to leave for a few days. Larry and Terry came in, did the work they said they would, and did a first-rate job. No messy fixes with these two!
Fourth, he is polite, respectful, and oh-so-entertaining! If you talk with him awhile, you will aprreciate his Larry-isms. Both men showed lots of concern and respect for both of us.
Last, he cares about his customers. When we returned after having been gone for a few days, Larry came over to return the key and ask if there were any other items that needed fixing. There were. He and Terry worked on them cheerfully and then left early on Friday afternoon to work on another job. At about 5:00, he called us and asked if we needed anything else. He was about to leave town on vacation and wanted to make sure we were OK before he left.
If the above doesn't convince you to use Larry, then please know that my husband was so impressed with all of the above that he decided not to use Larry's coupons from Angie's List! He said Larry earned every penny with no discounts, and I agree!

These guys were AWESOME!!! Very generous, knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and all around great people!!! Work was outstanding and at a very reasonable price.

I will just say I will not hesitate to use Larry as a general handyman whenever the need arises.  He and his associates were a pleasure to work with.

Mr. Steward responded promptly to my initial telephone call, and came by that same afternoon to see what needed to be done.  Very shortly after that he came by with a firm price and time schedule.  He and his helper were here each day as scheduled and the work schedule was organized well.  There was no wasted time for either of them.  Both were very professional. polite, and considerate.
The work was begun on Monday and completed by 11 a.m. Thursday with my furniture back in place and every area where they had worked very clean..

Larry did an excellent job.  He was always punctual, listened well, offered opinions when asked but did not push.  Overall, he was very good to work with.  He has very high standards.  For example, he was not happy with his work on the kitchen ceiling even though we thought it looked fine.  So re-did it to satisfy himself.   And he is very skilled.   He was also very generous with us.  He helped teach my wife some texturing skills so she could repaint a half-bath herself.   He is also very pricey because he knows he is good.  But you get what you pay for.

I got him from Angie's List.  I don't remember how much I spent.  He has got a flat fee though.  He comes out for a flat fee and then he does the job.  He did the job, but he ended up putting in old batteries.  I have got it to ring in my bedroom so I can hear it because the doorbell rings at the other side of the house.  It didn't work so I called him back.  He fixed it.  He used old batteries to begin with so he took those out and put new in and it worked.  He corrected what the mistake was.  He corrected his job so I can't complain.  I thought the next time he comes, I am definitely telling him I want fresh parts.  The price was fair.  Everybody has got their basic.  I can't rate something like the price.  The doorbell is fine.  It works.  I would call him again.  He came right away.  He was professional.  Everything went fine except that I was disappointed when they were old batteries.

He was very punctual and did the work in a timely manner. His drywall repair and painting were superb. He is very professional and can do many different tasks.

I found him on Angie's List and I called him. He was very prompt and very thorough. His prices were very good. He was kind of a character and he worked with a partner but they were both very nice and good people. He was straight forward and honest. The quality of his work was good. It took him a good week to get me into his schedule. I have asked him to do some additional tile work that he has agreed to do it but it has probably been close to a month and I have not heard from him yet. When I think of professionalism, I don't think about Larry as he is kind of a character but in a good way. He is kind of a good old boy.

       Mr. Steward arrived promptly at 8:30 and began work on both work dates.  He worked steadily and always informed me when he was going to be off site for a few minutes to pick up materials or break for lunch.  He kept me involved by informing me what he was about to do and why.  He made suggestions and recommendations, but was never pushy or critical of my choices.  For example, the back door going into the garage was weather-beaten and didn't really cover the opening well enough to keep out moisture.  He suggested a storm door as he felt that it would provide the best protection.  At first, I was reluctant to do that as I felt that a little moisture inside the garage once in a while was no big deal.  Besides, I wanted my cats to have access to the garage, and I thought that the storm door would make that impossible.  However, when he brought it up again, I was finally convinced that perhaps the storm door would be a wise investment.  Now I am so glad that I went with his recommendation.  The door is beautiful and adds to the overall appeal of the house.  More importantly, with the original (inner door) open, my cats still have access to the garage because of the way in which Mr. Steward installed the storm door. 
       Mr. Steward is an excellent craftsman as well as a man of integrity.  He is personable, reliable, delivers more than satisfactory work, and does so at a fair and reasonable price.  He is also creative, coming up with ideas and suggestions to solve problems or issues that I raise with him.  He  is, furthermore,  a perfectionist; this is a quality I like and want in someone doing work on the home I live in. Larry Steward is at the top of my list for home repair and improvement jobs, both large and small.
