The next day (2 June), I waited until about 4:45PM and since I did not receive a phone call I stopped in the Glass Doctor of Lubbock's office to ask about following through with placing the order and scheduling the work. I paid half up front (no problem there) and since the glass was to arrive the following Wednesday (8 June) we scheduled the work for the next available time which was the following Friday (10 June) at 1:00PM.
On 10 June around 1:00PM, I received a call from Glass Doctor of Lubbock letting me know that something had happened and they needed to re-order the glass. In the first part of the call, the representative told me that the glass was broken during shipment but at the end of the call he said that it broke when they were loading the glass on the truck to come out for their 1:00PM appointment. If the glass was broken during shipping, it would have been nice to have been notified before I took time off of work to be home for the 1:00PM Friday appointment. Regardless, I understand stuff happens. They re-ordered the glass and the next available for the new glass to be installed was 10:00AM on 22 June 2016.
10:37AM on 22 June 2016, I called the Glass Doctor of Lubbock office to confirm my appointment time because I had not heard from the office or the tech. The gal at the office apologized and said the tech should be on their way but would check and call me 'right back'. The next communication came directly from the tech around 12:00 noon, I received a call from the technician letting me know they were running behind and wanted to know if I was available now to come and install the glass.
The techs arrived 10-15 minutes after they called, verified that the glass they had was correct for what they were replacing before doing anything with the old windows and then got to work.
The two techs that actually did the work did a great job. They clearly knew what they were doing, were professional, courteous, efficient with their work and cleaned up when they were done. Once they completed the job, we did a final inspection to make sure I was happy with it, I paid the remaining balance and they were on their way.
My conversation with the techs while they were working suggested that the scheduling issues had to do with whoever was doing the scheduling not fully understanding how long each type of job really takes and hence they ended up way behind in their work. Based on how I saw these techs work, I am not sure they could have done my two windows any faster than they did.
As far as I can find, Glass Doctor of Lubbock is the only company in the Lubbock area that will replace glass only in residential windows. Everyone else I talked with would do full windows only and their prices were considerably higher.
If you have patience and only need glass replaced then Glass Doctor is an acceptable choice. I will say that this is my third transaction with them and every time I have needed glass I have done an exhaustive search and end up back with them.
