Driving honestly to go get some smokes one day, I saw some guys laying bricks and doing some work around the corner from our house. I stopped and asked them for their bosses number, and not a few seconds later he pulled up. Well we talked to him for a few minutes and told him that we needed the mortar redone on the house. He said he could stop by in about 20, and if we would be home. We said yes, and drove away to get what we needed. We returned home, and about 15 minutes later he showed up. Showed him the mortar on the side of the house, the cracks in the brick from the mortar, and in the backyard the same thing. He ( Wes - Owner ), that he would have it done in a day and a half. Total cost would be $ 500.00. He stated that he could start that afternoon or the next morning, after payment. We said start in the morning, he said ok, and left. Well the next morning He didnt come by. ( this was a friday ). We didnt hear from him till monday. We called him over and over trying to reach him but no reply till Monday. When he did come by we gave him a check for $ 250.00 and he said he would be right back after getting supplies. Waited about 10 minutes and checked the online banking from our bank, and the check had been cashed. Just waiting on him to return now ..... And waiting .... and waiting .... Well No responce from him for almost a week, then we hear noises from the brick outside. Looked, and it was this little college kid that was blasting RAP music extremely loud from his little red Car, parked in our driveway. He has a bucket, bag of Quik-Crete, and looked like a spatula. Thought, finally they are here doing the work ... better let them work. Heard the water running from the front of the house, and knew it was the water hose. No worry, they needed it. Anyways, about not even an hour past and the rap music had stopped. Walked outside and no one was to be found, except the water hose strown through the driveway, empty quik-crete bags and other trash thrown in the yard. The next day they showed back up about 10'ish in the morning. Didnt think it would take them to long because they said it would take 1.5 days to COMPLETE. It has already been over a week ! The college lookin' kid wasnt here maybe for 2 hours. What he did I dont know, couldnt tell he done anything except for jumbles of dried quick-crete on the grass next to the house. The wind picked up really bad, and that was when he left. The next time anyone saw him, he came back and worked on the house for maybe 30 minutes, max. Then came to the door and my wife walked outside with him. He stated that he was leaving because it "Doesnt look right". She came in and got her mom ( house owner ), and she went outside. They talked for about 10 minutes and the guy left. He told her that he was leaving because Wes the owner hasnt paid him for over a week and a half and he isnt completing OUR house until he gets his back pay. That is no concern to us, we paid... Finish ! Well anyways he left, took the trash buckets and everything with him. We called Wes to see what was going on, and Wes told us some Lies ! Wes stated that they guy was told by my wife that he should have been using" colored grout ". HA ! We know what we are doing, we can lay tile, flooring, redo cabinets, just about eveyrthing, just dont know brick. For sure know that grout is used INSIDE on tile, NOT Brick ! After an arguement with Wes on the phone, he stated he would be by and look at the job, and discuss what will be done. It has been ANOTHER week ! NO SIGN FROM WES !! The mortar looks like junk, really looks like it was done by finger painting. The old mortar was NOT drilled out like we were told would be done, and it is spotty around the house. In 2 spots they worked, and it is NO way near completed. We are still in process of trying to get ahold of Wes, he wont answer calls from any of our numbers now. This is a warning to everyone out there ! Do not do business with this guy. He is NOT Listed with the BBB, or the state of Texas. have done complete searches from his business ( " Byrd Construction Inc. ") and have found nothing legally listed, or not ever on Craigslist. His card states .... " Byrd Construction Inc. " "Free estiamtes, no Job to small." We will find them, and get our money back. Going to have another company do the work.
