Let me start with a little info first. My dog is a Golden Retriever. He's a certified AAT (animal assisted therapy) dog. We have three years of school and training to certify us to work in closely in the ICU and rehab hospitals. I say all this because it's relevant to what I'm about to explain.
My husband took Houston in for me. As soon as they walked in the owner jumped my husband about having Houston on a choke chain. She said it's inhumane and should never be used. Then she proceeded with her hateful attitude and demanded to know what we wanted done with and quot;this dogand quot;. My husband told her I wold be calling her with instructions.
I called immediately and and quot;schooledand quot; her on the proper use of a choke chain. When used right there is NO harm to the dog. For crying out loud I spent three years training with this dog on one!! I'm not an idiot! The owner then told me using a pinch collar is much better. WRONG!! they actually hurt the dog to get their attention. Chokers are used for the sound. That's what gets the dogs attention. Anyway enough of that. After her lesson (and please know I was a nice as I could be with her awful attitude) she gave to phone to the woman that would actually be grooming Housty. I told her everything that needed to be done for working purposes and then told her NOT to shave his feathering or pantaloons!! She ask if I wanted to clean up around the sani area (butt hole) I said yes but DO NOT shave his pantaloons!! So when I pick him up and his whole butt is shaved I'm NOT happy. I tell the owner and the man who brought me Houston that I very plainly said DO NOT SHAVE him. They do not care. The man said I shouldn't come back and I totally agreed! I paid for the grooming (btw the do not take credit cards) and left. I called my husband and he said he would call them. So he did. I talked to the man and said I would be turning around to get half my money back. The man said no she (I) can have the whole amount back. For us not to return. I get there and he will not even let me in. I cracks the door and tells me to wait outside (it's 100 degrees out). After a while he cracks to door again and hands me my money then shuts it again.
I have NEVER been so disrespected. We own our own business and I'll say right now if we treated our customers that way, we would be out of business in no time! I can't expect anyone reading this to believe my husband and I were as nice as we could be with these people, but I hope you will take this review to heart. These people were so far out of line.
Houston's hair will grow back in time (about a year to get them long and pretty like they were). In the mean time he looks odd. Nurses may want to know why he has been shaved (thinking he's been sick). We may not be able to work for several months now :(

I made an appointment, took my weimaraner, Baron for toenails trimming, bathing, hair conditioner, and flea bath protection. They took him in right away, i left to go shopping, returned approx one hour later, Baron was being dried off from flea bath, he appeared happy and ran around waiting room after hearing my voice, checking out all chairs tables and peope there. The staff appeared to have enjoyed taking care of him.
Overall experience was 100%. I will be taking him in monthly for procedures stated above except for fleas, am now using once a month flea protection provided for by his Vets office.
I would recommend this groomer to all pet owners or at least owners that have a dog. my only experience with animals here.

Emma came back to us clean, smelling good, happy and - very important - not dehydrated. She was happy to come home, of course, but she had a good visit with the Happy Day people.

We had to board our Golden Retriever over the Christmas holidays while we went up north. When I took her over, they showed me her specific kennel and pointed out that she'd be neighbors with several other Goldens. They were to groom and bathe her before we picked her up. As it turns out, we were gone an extra 2 days due to weather. When I called to tell them they stated it was no problem and when I called on our way home to ask if we could pick her up after hours, they volunteered to either stay late or come back and meet them if we knew what time it would be. We ended up able to pick her up during regular business hours and she was freshly bathed, groomed, healthy and happy. I would not hesitate to recommend Happy Days Kennel to anyone, would not hesitate to use them again if need be and I expect to take our girl back to them in the late spring for appropriate grooming. Their kennels are both heated and cooled, each dog has its own shelter and fenced run and the owners are not afraid to let the customer inspect the premesis. These people were excellent!
