SF5 Roofing & Construction, Inc.
About us
SF5 Roofing & Construction, Inc. was formed when some of the top people in the roofing and construction industry decided they could form a company made up of the best people in each category in the industry. The company has one official employee, the owner. The rest of the company is made up of independent contractors, the way it should be. They are paid for RESULTS and therefor strive for complete customer satisfaction. SF5 Roofing & Construction, Inc. does not have a license from the state of Texas because NO roofing contractor has one. The state of Texas does not certify, license, nor regulate the roofing industry. That is why it is important for legitimate roofing contractors to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. SF5 is insured and bonded. They have a two million dollar liability policy and a twenty five thousand dollar bond. SF5 Roofing & Construction offers free inspections, consultations, and quotes for anyone needing roofing or construction needs. We also work closely with insurance companies to maximize the benefits for those who have storm related claims. SF5 - what does that stand for anyway? It stands for our goal to always "Strive For 5!". From the moment we meet with a potential customer we enter into an evaluation process. We offer an Evaluation Form right up front with various questions to grade SF5's customer service from the introductory meeting and estimate, to the completion of the roofing project. We ask that you rate us from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) and we are consciously aware and focused throughout the process on our goal to earn those 5's! Confidently, because we are so dedicated to our "Strive For 5" goal, we insure you with our exclusive 5 year craftsmanship guarantee. We also have partnerships with several leading shingle manufacturers that have approved of SF5's craftsmanship and they offer optional, additional warranties backing SF5 and they work we do. We are also certified "Ask The Expert" ventilation experts and will gladly asses the ventilation of your property to insure you have enough intake and exhaust to adequately remove excess heat in the summer and moisture in the winter, helping to lower your energy bills. SF5 has several payment options and offers special discounts to: Seniors, Military, and Angie's List Members. Just ask a sales associate for details. SF5 also contributes to 12 major non-profit organizations a year. We take the profits of each particular month and donate those proceeds directly to a charity specifically designated for that month. The best friend of the owner of SF5 passed away from ovarian cancer. So a percentage of the profits of September, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, are given to the NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition). A complete list of charities is found on the SF5 website: www.sf5roofing.com

While Jake is a personable guy, he's just the sales 'front end' for this company. Once he sells you a roof, his 'cast of characters' appears and actually does the real work. Their trucks leak oil onto the street in front of your house and stain the pavement.. They will actually pull their trucks into your yard and drive onto your lawn, without asking you first, which is something no other roofing company seems to do. This introduces the risk of sprinkler system damage that they will then disown and say is not their problem. These guys also drove a nail into the HVAC lines, which released pressure and is obvious at the time of the puncture due to the high pressure release, but they didn't say anything to us and allowed us to figure this out when it was in the 90 degree temp range and our A/C wasn't working. Very unprofessional.
Watch out for his recommendation of "Malarkey" shingles - these are fine if you live in Chicago or north of there, but these shignles will bubble and break down in this TX climate. Check out the info on the web if you want more info, nobody uses these in TX. I suspect it's because he can make more money using these shingles.
The guys doing the work used this compressor to charge their air guns, and it kept mis-firing in terms of the motor. Not sure if this compromised the quality of the nails being driven into the roof (probably did), but it was just flat annoying to listen to. For Christ's sake, use some decent equipment when I am paying you $18K!!!!
In short, I would not hire this company again. Too much of a headache, too many inconveniences, and too unprofessional in terms of the dudes that actually show up and do the work. Also, the owner is very arrogant, is not trustworthy, and is unstable in terms of how he responds to complaints.
