Contractor was easy to talk to upfront. We discussed the timeline and what he need to work on. We told him that priority was exterior doors on home for security and then insulate and drywall shed to place salvaged personal items. After that would be a bathroom and bedroom so that we could live in the house while the rest is being remodeled. He said he needed $5,000 up front and then he would work up the numbers for the rest of the house. He took the $5,000, partially installed 2 of 3 exterior doors (the 3rd he just set aside) and that was it. The shims were still sticking out, the doors weren’t put in level, the exterior screen/glass door was never reinstalled and pieces were missing. We thought he would come back to finish them. Every time I called asking where he was on the numbers and when he was going to work on the house and finish the doors he would say as soon as he finished working up a price. Then he quit answering the phone, never showed, never worked. Then we started doing the insulation and drywall on the shed ourselves and told him to focus only on the house. He never did any work, never finished working up “numbers” and after about a month of that we called (he actually answered for once, rude as could be) and asked him to just refund all the money except for the parts and labor for the doors and that we no longer needed his services and that we would find someone else. Even with a 30% mark up on the doors and a charge of $40 an hour for 5 hours the bill should have been no more than $800. He charged us a total of $3,010.00 and those particular doors were only $140 each. He even charged for removal of doors and the only thing he had to remove was the screen/glass door that he never put back on because all of the other doors were removed prior to us ever contacting him for services. We got RIPPED OFF!! After receiving my refund check and actually realizing how much we were charged I called him several times to find out why everything was so much. When he did finally answer his phone he was EXTREMELY rude and said that he could have charged us more for the tile that he bought for the bathrooms (we never discussed style, size, color so he did that on his own) and charged more for his time (which we never got). He’s a fraud!! Don’t waste your money!! This guy will rob you blind and kick you when you’re down!

Contractor requested 50% up front. Studs in wall were inadequately replaced and supported. Cut corners. Contractor did not install agreed upon material. Installed cabinets twice and drawers will only support "plastic ware" Scope was clearly defined up front. Contractor failed to communicate with homeowner. Contractor only wanted to work without homeowner present. I cancelled contractor and he kept my 50%.
