"From inception, this was a difficult project due to the amount of run-off water flowing directly through the middle of their backyard. The initial meeting was 2 hours about drainage only. "The soils in North Texas always require organic amendment to alter from alkaline to acidic composition. We use a standard of 3-4" of a 50/50 blend of organic material and sand incorporated up to 10-12" in depth. The sand creates greater porosity and allows easier root penetration. Sometimes the client has difficulty seeing the addition, which is due to the greater percentage of existing soil. Our proposals are very specific and the client always has the option of adding/subtracting from the components. They are 'our boss' and its' their product, so we are always open to change."
