Executive Summary:
KG Fence Built what appears to be a nice looking fence. However there were a number of things damaged during the construction of the fence. Kevin, owner of KG Fence didn't take any responsibility for repair of these items, and thus their repair time and cost were left up to me, the homeowner.
1. Kevin's team cut the Sprinkler System electrical wiring
2. Kevin's team cut a PVC Sprinkler line in half
3. Kevin removed a 35 foot section of Sprinkler but didn't replace
4. Pool Deck Overflow Drainage and Pool Overflow Drainage lines damaged
5. Pool Retaining wall was damaged and not repaired
All in all, I spent $1,096 repairing issues caused by the build of this fence on my property. I expected that KG Fence would repair the damage his team caused however, Kevin never called me back after he received payment.
Nitty Gritty Detail:
One thing I noticed while the build was taking place is the Post Holes were dug then the hole was filled with water and then a bag of concrete was dumped in to the hole instead of mixing the concrete in a wheel barrow like it was stated would be done when we discussed the fence build prior to the actual build.
Kevin's team apparently cut the electrical wiring on my sprinkler system when the fence was built. This meant that none of my 8 sprinkler system stations worked. Kevin was aware of the sprinkler problem prior to his leaving with the final payment.
As a result of the electrical system damage caused by the fence build, I had to interview a few sprinkler people and then hire a person to locate the wire that was cut during the fence construction project. The first person I hired couldn't locate the problem and ultimately didn't charge me for his time, the second person did locate and repair the issue and charged $200 for the repair.
Once the electrical system was repaired, I had the system tested. Just to ensure the system was working properly. Unfortunately the Fence team also cut a PVC line in half when they were installing posts on the east side of my property. I had to schedule another time for the Sprinkler person to come out, they canceled on me 2 times, so I had to contract with another sprinkler person. They came out and had to do a large amount of digging in order to resolve the issue they charged $250 for this repair.
Once the severed PVC line was repaired, we resumed testing the sprinkler system and found that the 3 sprinkler head section Kevin took out in order to lay Electric Gate Concrete pad was the Next issue to be repaired. A couple more canceled appointments later I decided to perform the installation of the 35 foot worth of damaged sprinkler line. The PVC, sprinkler head, PVC Cement purchase was $146. (material is purchased - repair pending me finding time to finish the repair)
Once the sprinkler system was repaired I had to repair the Pool Overflow Drainage and Pool Deck Overflow Piping which were also cut when the Fence was installed. With all of the rain we have had it took a number of months to buy the material and dig the necessary trenches to resolve this issue. The cost of Material to resolve this issue was $100 and several trips back and forth to Lowes in order to get the correct parts.
The final issue was the pool retaining wall that was damaged during the Fence build. I hired a Brick and Mortar person to resolve this issue and the cost is estimated as being $400.
All in all, I spent $1,096 repairing issues caused by the build of this fence on my property. I expected that Kevin would repair the damage his team caused however, Kevin never called me back after he received payment.
"[member name removed] was informed prior to us starting the project that the sprinkler lines and the pool drain line would be damaged and have to be moved at his expense if he wanted the slide gate go where he wanted it. When we finished the job he stated he was extremely happy. I am shocked at the review he has written as I have had no contact with him in the several months since finishing the job. I did tell him I had a sprinkler man and he said if he couldn't get his guy out he would call me. I never heard from him."
I picked out 4 high-ranking Angie's List fencing companies close to my house. Even though Kevin didn't have a lot of rankings at the time, the record he had was excellent, so I called him out for a quote. Kevin impressed me greatly when he came out to give the quote. Not only was his quote the best of the other contractors, but he promised the quickest service. Kevin's crew arrived promptly, worked hard in the heat without complaint, and got the job done expertly with only a couple of minor issues, which Kevin promptly corrected.
I was very glad to have Kevin replace our fence. It has allowed us greater privacy in our backyard and provided our dogs freedom to run around in their own private space. Our fence looks great and we appreciate Kevin's workmanship and recommend him highly!
