Cen Tex Plaster

They were not punctual, missed quite a few spots and left boot prints in my brand-new pebble plaster. Had to re-drain pool to get another acid wash. Was not reimbursed for water or time, it's still incredibly rough, am still bleeding from such an incredibly rough surface. Would not hire again. Dangerous!!

The end product was fine.  My main complaint is the time it took to do the job.  When we contracted for the work, next to quality, the most  important consideration was timing.  I had guests with small children coming and wanted the job done by the time they arrived.  The company had the option to begin after my guests left.  Not only did I want the pool in use for them, I didn't want a death pit in the back yard.  The contract was signed 7 weeks before the desired completion date.  I was ASSURED that completion by the date desired would be no problem. Let's all raise our hands if we can guess what happened.  My guests were here for an entire month and we began putting water back in the pool on the day they left.  Nothing like spending a month trying to keep a two-year-old from taking a header into an empty, ten foot deep pool!  In addition the workers were very sloppy. The person who took the off tile off merrily stepped on and over my Polaris which had been left on the bottom of the pool. I had to point this out and ask him to take it out, but my then the damage was done and they ultimately had to replace it.  They also did the same with the light fixture in the deep end and later (after I lost over a foot of water overnight) came to repair the leak.  Yes, let's fill the pool twice in a drought.  Sloppy, sloppy and still a slight leak somewhere.

Even though we had delays because of freezing weather and rain, we were pleased with the entire process. We understood the necessity to maintain the integrity of the product.
We were kept well informed about each process that would be performed.
Our questions were adequately answered.
We were delighted with the final product.
We were told how to care for the pool and given good instructions.
Our phone calls were responded to in a timely manner.
The crew was efficient and left the area very clean.

Kevin, the salesperson, was very professional and helpful throughout the process. The new surface looks very nice, and the tile is installed cleanly. We are very pleased with the outcome. Centex started and finished the project when they said they would. My only complaint to Centex was that the installers left a bit of debris in our yard. Centex apologized profusely and said that they would follow up. All in all, it was a good experience.

Rob Scott did an excellent job in recommending the surface and color for the pool. Cen Tex started sooner than expected which was very impressive, and not our usual experience on such projects.

He is following up with us on securing two circulation "eyeballs" to fit our 48 year old pool. The workers were non-stop in chopping off the old plaster and preparing the surface for the Pebble Tech surface. The next day the high tech vehicles started appearing and by the fourth day the pool was being filled.

The resulting appearance of the pool was every bit of what we were hoping for.

We have already given Rob's contact information to a friend who is looking for a reliable company to resurface his pool.

Contacted CenTex for a quote and got an immediate response to schedule an appointment. The rep (Kevin Moore) came out as scheduled and provided a quote with a written follow-up. He was very responsive throughout the process, answered all questions in a timely manner, and worked with us on color choice to get what we wanted. Once we had made our decision, the prep and install crews were scheduled and able to start within days. Everybody showed up on time, the install went as planned and on time, and the result is great. Overall a very smooth experience and we are very pleased with the result.



These guys are not the cheapest in town, but you get what you pay for. Would not hesitate to use again or recommend to others.



Two other companies were contacted for quotes, but getting a firm quote and product samples was like pulling teeth and required too much chasing on our part that it turned us off. Centex was responsive and timely and won our business.

I have no comment about the price, because there was no one else in the area to perform this work - I'd determined I wanted Pebble-Tec and they were my only option.
The sales rep was pleasant and informative. Unfortunately, we never saw him again. The rest of the transaction was done over the phone. The women who handled billing were pleasant and helpful, but the service schedulers were hard to reach, and hard to pin down. It took a couple weeks longer than promised because they came, started, then took off for a week or two.
The most distressing thing is that they just dumped the wastewater and construction waste on my lawn, killing the grass in a large area.
I think they did a good job resurfacing the pool, but it's not even been two summers, so I'm not willing to say for sure yet. We'll have to see how it holds up.

We had Cen Tex Plaster re-plaster our pool solely based on the reviews on Angie's list. They were a bit more costly than other companies, but we had had a bad experience with another pool company and didn't wish to repeat that. Cen Tex was pretty quick to come to our home, measure and work up a bid. Once we signed on the dotted line and submitted a check, work began. The workman were prompt and got the job done! Everything was done according to plan. We are very pleased with the work Cen Tex did and would recommend them to anyone needing their pool re-plastered.

I disliked that there was some disconnect when between the time we hired them and after I accepted their bid because they did not come back. They should have come back and they arranged a meeting so all the decisions could be made, but I had to go visit a place and make the picks. They had to pick up tile form a tile from a tile company and I told them where the tile place was. After they picked it out they left there and came back and three days later they called and told me that the tile they picked out was over the quote they gave me. They did not really put it in writing about how much tile money they had and I thought that I would go back to the tile company and pick something else that was within my budget. There was a delay of 2 to 3 weeks due to all this communication stuff. Once I picked out the tile it was perfect. They were here when they were supposed to be here. I would work with them and know how their system works because of their system I wanted to cancel at one point because I was so frustrated.

They did pretty well and I feel like the quote was reasonable. I haven't been able to follow up yet.

The contract process was well managed and the payments tied to milestones were structured well. The work was also very well managed once the staff was on site. The quality of the work is also excellent. There were only two issues that separated the job from an ideal experience - the committed work dates would change without notification so I had to take the initiative to get updates. That is, work dates were promised and then no one would show up. The follow-up always yielded an explanation but for some reason there was no proactive notification that there was a change in dates. Secondly, during the sales cycle, it was suggested that tile restoration was part of the normal process but it was not included in the initial bid. I had the tile restoration added via a change record after signing the initial contract. Overall a great experience with these two exceptions.

Allen who did the bid on our pool from Cen Tex was great. Their bid was competitive and their reviews were good so we went with Centex. Jose who did the pool prep was on time and worked until he and his partner finished the prep work (7am - 8pm). Luis and his crew who did the Pebble Sheen surface which we had asked for came on time and did a great job as well. They were fast, efficient and professional and cleaned everything up when they were done. Sam who came and inspected the pool between the initial prep and finish coat was also excellent. When the job was finished, Cen Tex recommended Jim Briscoe from Boulder Pools to do the start up when our pool was finished and he went above and beyond what we expected. It was an additional cost above their bid but they had let us know that up front so we knew what to expect. Overall our experience with Cen Tex was excellent from start to finish. We don't know the long term outcome of the pool, but Cen Tex did a first class job in every respect with resurfacing the pool. They were on time, did what they said they would, cleaned up after themselves and were wonderful to work with. We highly recommend Cen Tex as well as Jim Briscoe from Boulder Pools who did our initial start up when the pool was finished.

They did an excellent job. I rate them high overall.

Overall experience was great. Estimates were timely, work was scheduled and the lead for the actual process kept me informed by phone each day as to what was happening and how long things would take.

This is an update to my original report on Cen-Tex Plaster submitted July 2008. John Scofield, the NEW owner of Cen-Tex Plaster, came to our house in September of 2008, jumped in the pool, inspected it himself, and told us that Cen-Tex would re-plaster the pool at no cost. The pool is now refinished and it is beautiful. Our experience this second time around has been very satisfying. I commend all of the staff that we were in contact with for their courteous business manner, good communication concerning scheduling and the re-plastering process, and trouble shooting several existing problem areas of our pool. To their credit, the folks at Cen-Tex did some additional work to help solve some of the problem areas and did not charge me for the extra work. They removed 12 obsolete floor jets and plastered the spillway between the pool and spa. I didn't expect these extra changes to be done for free - but they never brought up the issue of payment. Our pool has been finished for approximately 2 weeks and we are in the high maintenance phase of dealing with new plaster. The surface is smooth, there are no chips, and there is considerable less plaster brushing off than before. I respect Mr. Scofield's leadership and willingness to turn this bad experience around. As a consumer recommending businesses to others, I have to say that I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Cen-Tex this second time around. I encourage any potential customer to thoroughly discuss your wishes and expectations concerning a replaster job with any company you are considering - and I highly recommend Cen- tex to be at the top of your list.

He did a really good job. He did what he said he was going to do. The workers showed up on time and were easy to deal with. He did not try to sell me anything I didn't need and I would use him again.

THEY WERE TIMELY AND COST EXACTLY WHAT THEY HAD BID FOR MY JOB. THEY HAD TO BE WATCHED THOUGH FOR QUALITY AS WE WERE EXPECTING A VERY HIGH FINISH (SMOOTH).
