WEST LAKE CONSTRUCTION

Westlake construction does excellent work and thoroughlycleans up after completion. My first job last fall was completed on time and at the agreed price. November 28 owner David Spurling came by looking for work just as I was going away for the weekend. Business was slow and his crews were needing work. He is a very persuasive salesman. Unfortunately I agreed to have him replace some siding that really didnot need to be replaced. Since I do not want anyone working on my house while I am not there, I told him not to start work until I returned Tuesday. I went off on my weekend trip. That evening at Surfside, I realized that I had agreed to a job for 3500 dollars that he had offered to do for3000 when he did the first job. The next morning about eight O?clock I called his office and left a message with his office manager that I had buyers? remorse and had decided not to have this work done now and went fishing. I do not carry my cell phone on the boat. When I returned from fishing, I had urgent messages from Mr. Spurling that his workers had already removed much of my old siding before he got my message. He said he had not understood my instructions to wait until I returned. Without any reasonable alternative, I told himto finish. I felt I had beenhustled. Also, my DSL phone line was cut during theinstallation and the man sent to eventually repair it had no tools, ladder or even electrical tape. Recommendations: Since Mr. Spurling is a very persuasive salesman, my recommendations to others would be; 1. Be very sure you know just what you want done, when you want it done and the price. 2. Get at least one other bid for the job before you contact Westlake Construction.
