Voelkel Construction is really not a construction company at all. Patrick the owner is all there is. He has no crew, he has no shop, no tools or even a trailer to haul material. He simply hires another general contractor to do the work and adds his profit on top of their cost. Save yourself that money and find a true contractor. Professionalism: My house was flooded during Harvey and I hired Voelkel to do the repairs. I thought the bid was a little high, but didn’t really do enough comparing because I wanted to get back in my house and really didn’t mind spending a little more to get that done. My mistake! In part of the rebuild we decided to remove two walls to increase space, one in the laundry room and the other in the master bath, both of which had plumbing inside the walls. Both of these modifications were in the orginal bid, but about a week into the job he told me that the plumbing was a copper loop system and that he would have to charge more for the modification which ended up being an additional $3400.00 that I ended up paying. This trend continued throughout the rebuild. Everytime he performed another portion of the job he would come back and tell me that there was some type of up charge after the work was already complete. He even came back and wanted to charge me extra for the door knobs for the doors that were replace because he had not include that in the bid because for some reason he thought I had saved the door knobs even though, when he came out, the doors, with the knobs and hardware, were in the big pile in my front yard along with just about everything else that had been in my house. I regularly had to tell him that I was not going to pay for his perceived extras that were not spoken about and approved prior to the work being done. Quality of Work: This was another constant battle. I was constantly having to point out things that were not done correctly. I cannot remember one time when he came to me and said, hey I saw that this was not done correctly and I am going to have it fixed. I was always the one that had to point it out. A few of the bid ones were when they removed the wall in the laundry room we were expanding it and the back wall was now an exterior wall, well when they move the plumbing, gas and electric they didn’t relocate the 110v plug to the new wall so I would have had no power for the washer or dryer. When the cut the hole in the new sheetrock to drop the plug I then noticed that they had sheet rocked this exterior wall without putting any insulation in it. I also found another wall in the garage they had done the same thing.

Voelkel Construction exceeded my expectations! From start to finish they listened to what I wanted and kept me informed throughout the whole process. My house was kept clean, they we're very professional and the work they did was outstanding. I was nervous about doing a renovation this size, but will definitely be using Voelkel Construction for my next project.

The owner Patrick was great ... from the first meeting to the finish of the project. We gave him and idea of what we wanted and he ran with it. He even suggested something's that we had not thought of. We can't wait for spring and summer to enjoy our outside space. Thanks again for a job well done.
