My ex-husband hired them to move his items and furniture from our home to his apartment. He was clear on what items were going and walked through the house and showed them. The actual movers were polite and respectful. However, after moving 80% of the furniture they informed me they do not move pictures, and the mountain of boxes I had already packed and taped, they claimed they were unaware. They were unable to get my daughters bed apart because one of the screws were "stripped" so they just left it. I noticed it when I was doing walk through before they left. So my husband calls the owner, leaving a message. He shows up and the boxes do get moved but not without hesitation and a degree of perplexity. My husband asks the owner if they can move tv, he says no, unless it is in a box. My husband asks if they have a box they can use, he said no, you can get boxes at Home Depot. Totally rude. Once they get to my ex husbands apartment, they could not get get couch up the stairs after trying just a couple times, finally my husband shows them how to navigate the passage and they were able to place it where it belonged. The owner shows up and gives my husband the invoice and it is $200 more than initially quoted. My husband had to go back to ATM because they only accept cash. I have moved dozens of times and I have never dealt with a company such as A-1 Absolute Movers, the absolutely are NOT a full moving company that did ever recommend.

I spoke with your husband about the paintings, pictures, and TV without ever getting rude with him, I do not speak to my customers disrespectfully and he never indicated to me he thought I was being rude to him. We do not provide boxes because they are available (and very cheaply so) at most storage's and Home Depot, so it is not cost effective for us to pay for a climate controlled warehouse to store them. As far as the $200 you are referring to, you were still boxing items the entire time we were loading your belongings into our truck, you had quite a bit to move ma'am. We only charged the actual time we spent moving you. We did not start your time until we arrived, and we stopped the clock the moment we stopped working. The couch was an over sized couch and there was a very tight 90 degree turn in the stairwell requiring extreme caution, which we used. We were able to get the couch where it belonged because my crews are professional, experienced, and very good at what they do. We hired A1 to help move our big furniture/possessions from our apartment into our new house. They were a referral from my mother-in-law who has used them multiple times over the years. However, I did not have a good experience with them and would not recommend them to others. | |I didn't like the fact that we started to get charged their "Moving" fee once they start heading to our apartment from their office. I get being charged for mileage, but the fee you pay for actually moving shouldn't count when they haven't even arrived at the pick-up destination. | |I didn't deal with them at the apartment, my husband did, so I can't speak to how they packed up and moved things onto the truck. Although, everything did arrive with no scratches/dents/breaks on them. | |I was at the house waiting for them to arrive. When they did arrive I noticed that the driver was smoking a cigarette. It is very off-putting that the people handling our possessions would be smoking because that smell/odor lingers. | |We did move into a 3-story house that has a very tight turning radius for a stair well (first to second floor), so I knew it was going to be rough, however, most of the heavy furniture was going to be going on the first and second floor (excluding a bed and dresser). | |We have a 9 foot tall China Cabinet that is two pieces, bottom buffet that is about 3 feet tall and the display cabinet on top which is around 6 feet, with a decorative arch. They were able to get the bottom piece up the stairs but they started to struggle with the top piece because of it's weight and shape. During the move they scuffed the wall above our front door, and also took a chunk out of the wall about the size of a golf ball when trying to pivot the china cabinet onto the first floor landing. I was getting nervous and I questioned whether or not we should keep the china cabinet. When my husband told them that we were questioning to keep it, the mover said to me "I'm going to be honest, we're not moving it back down. That's harsh, this thing was too heavy to get up here." I asked him if he was serious and he said yes. He wasn't going to move the china cabinet back down to the first floor, they would only continue to go up and get it on the second floor. | |I understand that the furniture was heavy and they were having a hard time getting it to the second floor. What I don't appreciate is them scuffing and denting my walls and then telling me that they wouldn't MOVE the furniture to where I wanted. To me that was a lack of respect and an inappropriate way to respond to my request. | |They did get the china cabinet on the second floor, and I love it, but the fact that they told me if I wanted to move it back down they wouldn't do it is completely and utterly unacceptable. | |When my husband went to pay them, they mentioned nothing about a discount for the damage they caused to the walls, or mentioned that they would cover the cost to fix it. We paid full price and got poor attitudes and a new house with some moving scars. | |Another thing I found very weird, was that they would only accept cash payments. No other form allowed.

You never called to speak with me at all, you went straight to the Internet to place your review without bringing any of your concerns to me. When your husband booked your move he was told of all charges including additional drive time because of the distance we had to travel and he agreed. When the job was completed he said the crew did an outstanding job. If you have an issue with a company, it is best to reach out to them to address any issues you have so they can work with you to resolve them if possible. You gave me no such opportunity, I found out only of your concerns by following our reviews online where I came across yours. Thank you"

These guys were impeccable, totally professional, extremely helpful and very nice to talk to. I have moved many times in the past and I have to say that these guys were the best I have ever had, they made the whole experience easy and pain free. They were on punctual, careful and even helped put some of the furniture back together. If you want a professional pain free experience when moving then I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We called A-1 Absolute Movers and were very pleased with their competent, professional and polite service!
Although we had only a small move of 40 to 50 boxes, one end table, and various household goods Steve at Absolute did not hesitate to book a move for us.

I emailed Steve approximately one month prior to our move and he responded back within hours of my request to get my phone number so we could discuss the details of the move. Steve called immediately and we set-up the move and he quoted me a price and told me how his team would perform to expectations.
Steve's team arrived on time at 8 am to complete an in-town move for us. They worked non-stopped (no breaks) during our move and did a great job of breaking down and setting up furniture. They moved us very quickly even though we had to make a stop to our storage unit to retrieve items. Super nice crew and they worked hard from the time they arrived until they finished. The price was certainly fair and was worth every penny!! Thanks Steve!

Great service, stress free 2000 mile move (1500-sf house). Steve (owner A-1 Absolute) calculates the price of the long distance move by volume not weight. Basically, the cost depends on the size truck needed, the fuel cost for the trip miles, driver expenses, etc. We got a contract with the fixed final price before starting the move. We had an unexpected medical issue two weeks before the move that required delaying the move by one month. Steve was great in making the changes to make that possible, with no additional cost. Steve loaded on the day scheduled and arrived at our new home exactly as scheduled. With two local helpers, all was moved into the house very promptly and efficiently despite some ice and snow and a flight of stairs for much of the stuff. Because Steve was very straightforward about all the arrangements and costs, and the move itself went exactly as planned, this was a very positive and stress-free experience. We had used A-1 Absolute in the past for several local moves, and they were great. This long-distance move was equally great. We would certainly use them again or recommend them to friends for either a local or long distance move.

Called Steve at 9PM on Sunday evening when our moving project proved to be more than we could handle. He had 2 men at our home by 11:30 AM the next day who were hardworking, no nonsense professionals who completed the job in 2 hrs.
I would not hesitate to call them again the next time we move and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The two man team showed up promptly and introduced themselves and went over the agreed upon rate with no surprises. They were very personable and professional. They did a complete walk-through and made a quick plan based on my household contents of how to pack from start to end. They were very efficient and were careful to pad the appropriate pieces. It took a little longer than I expected but that was on me as I ended up having a lot more boxes after packing than I thought. Of course the unloading always is much faster. It was done extremely quick but with due care. The guys were great and tipped accordingly. I would hire again.
