SHOTTY/SLOPPY WORK - After my husband and I moved back to our home in Texas, it required some renovations. Our hardwood floor refinisher (who did an excellent job!) recommended Matt Kunke,Ground-up Construction (GUC), to paint our home's interior. I explained to Matt that I was very meticulous, and wanted an HGTV look. He seemed nice, said he really needed the job, and reassured me that the end result would be beautiful. We trusted Matt's word to do a good job, even though we were not always available to supervise the entire project. Four weeks later, and after a final walk-through, I was shocked to find a perfect color scheme in such a mess. There was paint spatter/runs/blobs everywhere! .... on the ceramic/new wood floors, kitchen appliances/cabinets/backsplash/granite countertops, bathroom sinks/toilets, windows/doors, etc. None of the trim had clean, straight lines. Several doors were chipped and door knobs put on backwards. The wall above the garage door and many areas around trim were not painted. The master bedroom closet door was broken, and three weeks later, a new unfinished door without cut-outs and replacement hooks was left on my doorstep. I had to redo all of his patchwork, touch up trim, and repaint walls. New knobs on the cabinets didn't cover up the imprints because they weren't sanded down. Hinged hardware and bathroom towel racks/tissue holders mysteriously disappeared. Receipts confirmed that my husband paid for almost all the paint. The list goes on! Matt came back 2x times (at my request) to fix and clean up, but only a small portion was done. In the meantime, we're stuck with a mess that we had to fix ourselves. I requested an invoice for his services but never received one. During the project, we gave him 3 bathroom lights, replaced his truck's broken windshield, and paid him on time. Don't be fooled by the GUC website, although Matt claims he didn't have one, but does (phone # is incorrect)! What you see is not what you get!
