We knew from their existing reviews that he has poor response and was not very good at communication, but his original quote came in within our budget. The original quote was $1500 for all materials and labor. He was originally going to call me on a Friday night to confirm what time they would be here on Saturday. I called him in the evening and he said his job ran late could he call me around 9 pm. I told him I would be up. He never called and did not show Saturday. He called Sunday to confirm that he could come out on Monday, weather permitting. It ended up raining on Monday.
Work was to begin on Tuesday. I was not here but my husband was. He dropped off a crew of two inexperience men on Tuesday morning. When I came home in the afternoon they were just finishing up prepping the one slab for the storage shed and had not started on the second slab. They were filling sand in the trench! When I asked the guy he said that the concrete absorbs in the sand, then admitted this was only the 2nd concrete job he had done. I don't think the other guy had experience in concrete either. I felt I knew more from researching (we were going to do it ourselves but my husband had to work too much) than the and quot;professionalsand quot; we were paying. After some discussion we decided we would ask the boss when he came to pick them up. Sure enough, the sand was NOT suppose to be filled all the way in. The next day they came back out, said they needed more sand (miscalculated) and would need a check for more sand. My husband was here and reluctantly cut the check. Then they miscalculated the rebar... another check. THEN they miscalculated the concrete!!! So approximately $400 + more later...
When the concrete truck came out, they let the driver drive the truck over my neighbor's driveway and into my back yard, which now has tire marks all in it. I was at work and husband was sleeping (he works nights). There was a clean out drain cover in one slab, which they covered up completely, but managed to catch it when I inadvertently asked if the concrete was going to look more level because it looked like a bubble. Him and one of his crew rescreeded the slab, while the other two stood around. They did a horrible job, tried to blame the sprinkling rain on it at first. There are waves and bumps and pits in the concrete (and not in the artsy way!). They raised the slab WAY higher than planned, one corner was only 1and quot; thick, and barely 2and quot; in some places.
Short of resurfacing, which we don't have the money for, I don't know how this could even remotely be fixed!!!
