"Alex was a consummate professional from to finish. The package of samples was sent in timely manner, and he was patient and knowledgeable when explaining the aspects of each tinting material. He was also extremely personable. I would recommend him and this company to everyone I meet. 10/10."

"Steve came by to measure my windows. After he was done, he used his tablet to send me an email with a PDF invoice for the services, which included all of the window measurements and costs. I was really impressed with the company's cost transparency, since I had another window tinting company come out before and they only provided me with an invoice - and not the window measurements.  The installers came on time and were very professional. The installation took place on 1/7. On 1/15 I received an email with a paid invoice acknowledgement and information regarding a government tax credit. On 1/23, I received an email with the tag "Huper Optik Warranty Registration Confirmation."  Overall I am very satisfied.

"This is the 2nd vehicle I have tinted by Captain Tint. He did an excellent job on my previous vehicle so I knew I had to call him again. David recommended an upgrade to the 3M film I had used before only when he was on site, no pressure or upsell tactics. He also comes to your house how can you beat that?"

"Peyton and Max were amazing. Max came out next day from my call to measure our windows and get me an accurate quote and run through our options, Peyton came out 3 days later to do the install and did great. He noticed a defect that we did not, and ripped down the film to start over on one of the windows. We got heat reduction film on our rear windows, 5% light transmission, and it looks and feels killer. Absolute privacy from outside, with absolutely 0 visibility to the inside until your face is on the glass, and the clarity to the pool and yard from inside is perfect. INSTANTLY resolved our issue with the single pane glass weâ ve got, which heated up TERRIBLY in the late afternoons. The moment I walked in, I noticed the temperature was much more tolerable. Iâ d recommend these guys to anyone thinking about residential window tinting, or unhappy with how warm their windows get in the summer. These look much better than the solar screens the house has on some other windows."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

Use a combination of blackout methods to truly black out your windows. If you want to eliminate all light from your room, try installing a very dark tinted film and then putting up blackout shades over the entire window. Reach out to a professional and request some custom-made shades for the best result.

The average cost for home window tinting is around $600, with most homeowners paying between $150 and $1,600. Costs can also be calculated per square foot, typically ranging from $2 to $100, or per window at around $75 each. For example, tinting one or two windows might cost between $200 and $350, while a larger project of 13 to 15 windows could range from $4,124 to $4,747.

Several factors influence the total project cost, with the number and size of the windows being the most significant. Other key factors include the type, shade, and quality of the tint film, as well as labor costs. Additional treatments, such as low-emissivity (low-E) coatings, can also increase material costs.

Window tinting offers several benefits, such as making your home more energy-efficient by blocking harsh sunlight, protecting furniture from fading, and increasing privacy. For this reason, many homeowners choose to tint only the windows in specific areas where direct sunlight and privacy are primary concerns.

Your homeowners insurance provider may decrease your premium if you improve the security of your home with window security film. You can contact your insurer to determine whether there will be a change in cost after applying this addition. If there is a decrease in your homeowners insurance premium or deductible, it will likely only be available if your window film is installed by a professional window film installer.

While it is possible to install home window tint yourself, it is a challenging task that is often best left to professionals. The process can be tedious and time-consuming, requiring steady hands and a great deal of patience, especially for a first-time installer.

Common mistakes in DIY applications include visible bubbles, imperfections, and film that either hangs over the edges or doesn't fully cover the glass. These errors not only look unprofessional and detract from your home's curb appeal but can also reduce the tint's effectiveness in blocking sunlight and heat. If you have struggled with applying protective films to smaller items like phones or tablets, you may find this task particularly difficult.

Attempting the installation yourself and making a mistake can lead to wasted material and the additional cost of hiring a professional to fix the issues or redo the job. Although hiring a professional involves labor costs, it typically guarantees a high-quality, seamless appearance and saves you from having to do the work over again.

If you have bubble wrap lying around the house and you don’t care about the odd look, taping bubble wrap over a window is a very affordable way to insulate it. Another inexpensive option for insulating windows is to add new caulk around the glass. This step quickly cuts down on air drafts for older windows, and a tube of caulk only costs a few dollars. Adding plastic shrink film around the glass is another cost-effective option. You can purchase a kit of plastic film for a few dollars per window.
