I accidentally overpaid Scott and Scott provided me a refund with my receipt. once again Scott and his team did excellent work. they were very professional and cleaned up very well after the windows were installed. the touch up paint was done excellently. I also had a ceiling repair done and you cannot even tell where it was patched with sheetrock. I recommend GCR Builders to all my friends and acquaintances. GCR Builders completed 3 projects at our home: Fascia boards and drip edges were repaired (also repaired window frame) on an elevated home, Built louvered walls and built a louvered gate. The workmanship on everything was outstanding and we could not be happier with the results. What really sets GCR apart however is the careful planning which went into the project before they began which ensured that everything went smoothly and according to schedule. The crew was polite and on time everyday and worked with a professionalism that is rare to see these days. I highly recommend them for any remodeling or home addition you may be contemplating. I contacted GCR Builders and Scott Barker for repair of water damage incurred in a small upstairs bathrooom from an undetected shutoff valve leak under the vanity sink. Since this involved some demolition to remove the vanity cabinet and damaged sheet rock, I decided to update the bathroom as well with new floor and shower wall tile, new fixtures, and a granite countertop. It was a pleasure to work with Scott right from the start. He listened carefully to my plans for the renovation, and offered many helpful suggestions and alternative solutions. Scott came to the house almost every day to see how the project was going, and was very responsive to text messages and phone calls. I was also impressed by his crew; they arrived on time every day, were polite and professional, and kept the work area tidy. All in all I'm very satisfied with how the work proceeded, and am happy with the end results. I have already recommended GCR Builders to friends, and plan to hire them for future projects.

If you need to remodel and live in GCR Builders service area, use this company. We called Scott Barker, the owner, originally to re-texture the ceiling in the living, dining and kitchen of our second home in Bayou Vista. We then asked him to install new tile flooring, Silestone countertops, marble mosaic backsplash, farmhouse sink and faucet for our kitchen. I mention the materials we used because it was all very labor-intensive to install well. His group did a fabulous job. His cost estimate for the job was accurate and he completed the job in a little less than a month after we picked out the materials we wanted. With us living and working in north Texas, we needed someone like Scott who kept us well-informed (but not excessively so) even though we weren’t there during any of the work. By the time we saw the work in person, it was complete and clean and exactly what we wanted. We plan to use him again to redo our bathroom in the same house.

Scott was pleasant and professional when he came to meet with me. He took careful measurements and observations; however, he said that a quote could take up to ten days! When it arrived in my email, it was for $53,000! Who pays that much for siding?!

Scott's crew investigated our roof and discovered that all the flashing had rotted through. They removed the rotted flashing, associated roof materials, and replaced them. They also replaced two doors as well as the upstairs deck which was on top of the flashing. In addition we had two windows replaced. One wall that had mildewed because of moisture inside it had to be replaced. The overall result seems excellent. All the windows, walls and doors were painted carefully, even one that had been only slightly damaged. So far we have seen no water come in, so we are very optimistic. Scott's crew was engaged and showed up when they said they would. The only delay was caused by people installing new windows.

Communication was great from the first phone call for a proposal, to completion. Work was started as planned, and completed expeditiously. I have extensive experience in the home building industry so I was watching the work closely, I did not see anything that was out of line with what I would do if I was doing the work on my own home. GRC is a great bunch of folks that I would gladly hire again.

Scott responded quickly with the initial assessment and quote. Once the new front door system was received, we were able to easily and conveniently schedule the removal of the old door and installation of the new. The crew arrived promptly, worked efficiently and professionally for the two days required to complete the job. They cleaned up after themselves each day. Very pleased with the finished work. There was a defective part on the door which Scott noticed, ordered a replacement part, and then followed up with a quick repair a few weeks later when the part was received. Excellent service and follow-up.

The workers showed up every day at the same time and worked all day and cleaned up each day before they left. They were very friendly and polite. The privacy fence looks real neat and even and is built sturdy. The concrete patio was poured over existing concrete and turned out even and makes the back yard look great. There was extra sand brought in and made level for some landscape pavers around the pergola. My backyard is now a relaxing area that is enjoyed everyday. There was extra sand and wood, so the guys built my grandson a sand box, which he plays in every day. They even told me how to repair a pvc pipe I cracked on an outside faucet. I am very happy with all the work in my backyard and will definitely recommend GCR builders to all my friends and will use them again in the future for any work at my home.

Owner: Scott Barker. An overall pleasant experience. Scott provided a very comprehensive estimate using a tool very similar to what insurance adjusters and TWIA use. Quite detailed. We obtained more than one estimate for this work. GCR wasn't the cheapest but they had good reputation. We waited a few months to actually get on the schedule. Scott worked with us on re-costing some of the work to show TWIA their estimate wasn't current based on post-Harvey markets. Worked out to our advantage with TWIA. Crew arrived on time every day. Scott stopped by every day to check in. GCR left a "job scope" book on site to allow the work crew a reference for questions they might have. This worked well. We feel the team attempted to keep our home livable during this two week interior repair job. It's always inconvenient, but they did a good job trying to work with us. At the end of the job, we (as owners) reviewed the job scope, change orders, and the final punch out. All issues and credits were resolved without big issues. We'd hire them again. And that's saying something after dealing with and firing some real losers after Hurricane Ike and doing a two bathroom remodel a few years ago. Thanks Scott and GCR Builders. I called GCR Builders to rebuild the first floor of our home following flooding from Harvey. This was the second time they had worked for us, and I felt confident they would treat us fairly and do a quality job. I was not disappointed. Scott provided a detailed estimate, arranged the purchase of all the materials, and was attentive to scheduling - I always knew when to expect the crews to arrive and the reason for any (rare!) delays. We continued to live upstairs during the work, but I felt confident leaving the house in their hands as needed. The work included a complete kitchen rebuild, drywall, paint, new interior and exterior doors and windows, and excellent carpentry on the stairs and custom newel post. I would definitely hire GCR Builders again as my go-to contractors.

Scott Baker came to the house to look at the damage. E suggested to take down all of the sheetrock from the ceiling since he said it will not be much of a difference for the repair. At the end wa paid much more than the original bid. The termite damage was not “repaired” it was patched! Most of the supporting beam in the garage was hollow when we opened it back again. We opened it again since the floor in the bedroom was bouncing. Moreover, the installation of the sheetrock was horrible, horrible, horrible!! There are gaps everywhere. Sadly at the time we didn’t know anything about sheetrock and we accepted the work. It was a waste of our money and I would not suggest this company to anyone!

GCR contractors carried out work on several rooms of our house that were damaged by Hurricane Harvey. The work was absolutely great when it was finished. The initial survey carried out by Scott Barker was spot on and accepted without question by the insurance company. After the initial demolition more damage was uncovered that wasn’t seen in the initial survey and once again the add-on estimate was accepted by the insurance company with no questions asked! Scott’s estimates were so right-on that there was a single 2x4, half gallon of paint and a small piece of drywall(4’x5’) at the end of the job! Every morning Scott would stop by to be sure the crew was on top of the job and everything was ok and asked me if there were any problems or questions. On occasion he would also drop by in the afternoon to check on work accomplished. At the end of the job they provided me with all the receipts with a detailed accounting of materials used and material left over. This personal touch was greatly appreciated and gave us some comfort that our house was going to be ok and in good hands and was one less worry we had in the aftermath of Harvey. The crew assigned to our house, Bill and Barbara were fantastic! They were professional, diligent, friendly and hardworking duo. GCR Builders will be my first choice when we have additional work do in our house.

Scott came out to assess work and provided a fair estimate for both the price and the amount of time required. He even had a "Plan B" in case weather prevented completion of the work. Two months later (due to my schedule), the job was started and completed in less than 3 days. Eddie and Cecil were great. They performed all jobs efficiently and did very high quality work. They told me everything they did as they went. They even told me when they were going to lunch so that I could let out my dogs for a bit. They also cleaned up really well when they completed the job. Scott came by 2-3 times every day to make certain things were going according to plans and to discuss what would happen next. Excellent communication from GCR Builders - nothing was ever left to chance or guessing on my part. I truly could not have asked for a better experience or a better group of guys to do the jobs. If any other work needs to be done, GCR Builders will be my first call.
