He did a very good job on everything except the back splash tile. He had never dealt with that kind of tile before and the first batch was hung backwards. It wasn't a big deal. He didn't charge us extra to put up the replacement tile we got. It all came out pretty well. He was a really reliable guy and I would use him again. The price was about what I expected. He did a really good job on the door and on the fence replacement he did an excellent job. He had a good sense of humor. He's interactive and shows a lot of expertise in certain areas. He was really an interesting guy. He was very professional.

In the beginning, Curtis met with us and took measurements and a sample of the tile we wanted installed, and promised us a call with an estimate. He called when he said he would and gave us the $3500 estimate which included everything for the backsplash except the tile, the entire fencing job and installation of the back door and hardware.
The price seemed extremely reasonable as the pickets we agreed on for the fence were to be cedar and not the treated pine the previous contractor installed for us (which didn't even last 2 years without buckling and bending), and so we told him we were ready to proceed when he could fit us in the schedule.
A few days later, Curtis came to the house to start the job. He had the old back-door out and the new one installed in 45 minutes and it needed NO further adjustments, it was perfect. We love the new door which came with a pet door pre-installed for our dogs.
When he got started on the fence, it was surprising to us that he did it all by himself. He's such a hard worker, and in about a day and half had the entire back fence installed and it's very sturdy and looks just beautiful. I was amazed that he got so much work done in so little time and with such quality.
On the backsplash, we hit a couple of hiccups. The glass mosaic tile I'd purchased was unlike anything he'd ever worked with before. I believe that most of his tile work has been with ceramic tile, and this particular tile that I bought was extremely unusual and difficult to work with, it was concave and didn't adhere to the mastic as it should, and it didn't have the mesh backing to hold the tile in better, and cutting it was an even riskier business, because cutting it vertically caused the tile to crack and break. So, there came a point in the installation process as I saw the struggles, I decided to go a different route, and I bought a more forgiving tile for installation. It was actually my 'second choice' and I think that since it had all the normal elements (net backing and all), it was a bit easier to install and I'm extremely happy with how it turned out.
There was much to like about this contractor. He personally was a very likable person, and he inspired confidence by the easy way he took any problems in stride. I don't think that I am the easiest person to work for because I hold people to pretty high standards, but Curtis was able to meet and then exceed many of those expectations.

Initial scheduling was a little complicated, but, once we got past that everything was great.

The new cabinet for the sink was perfect, including kickplate drawers I had spotted on a floor model at Home Depot. Love the cabinet. Electrical subcontractor and plumbing subcontractor did fine work. Where the project went downhill was the tiling. I had selected for the floor tiling to go in at an angle. Installer initially laid the tile straight. Contractor spotted error and had it corrected. Work was sloppy (spacing inconsistent). The tiling for the tub enclosure was non-traditional and I had provided the pattern via a drawing on draft paper. Once again, installer got it wrong. Contractor came over quickly and removed before it set. Next day the contractor was there to inform the installer and the installer quit. Days went by with no work. Finally installer returned and finished the job but did an even sloppier job. (For example, I had to chisle grout out of one of the soap plates.) I spent the next two weekends finishing up - sealing grout, sealing exterior of installed window, replacing tub faucet (a wrench had been used to tighen destroying exterior finish), etc. After seeing the obviously damaged faucet I just wanted them to be gone and didn't bother to point it out to the contractor. Things I was not able to fix are the scratches on the counter and cracked flanges for the shower curtain rod.

I spent about $6000 on that service. They actually had to put a new bathroom from scratch. They did not finish it out because I only wanted it to be brought up to the drywall and they tiled the shower. They did not plumb the new bathroom. I have used them a lot but this time I felt he was a little rushed and he did not finish it up as much as I thought he should have. The work is still quality work but it just was not as good as he should have done it.

He's built my niece's deck. This guy is so good, so efficient and so polite. He does everything. He does painting and deck. He is just incredibly inexpensive. I can't say enough about him. He is honest, prompt and caring. I would use him again in the future. I am having him do a bunch of work.

He is excellent. He is there when he says he is going to be there and does what he says he is going to do. He does it right and his price is fair. He does quality work and he will tell you if something can be done differently to be more cost effective. He is a really good remodeler. He is a great guy and does great work. He is on time and show up consistently.

The owner, Curtis Dorsett, arrived the same day I contacted him by phone to look at the project and give me an idea of how soon the work could be done. He estimated about one week before the work would start. That was an accurate projection. The work was done quickly, and extremely well done. The limestone plaza stones were matched with the existing stones. The existing stones have a lot of fossils throughout, and you can hardly tell where one ends and the new starts. They were happy to embed a brass dog tag from a deceased dog who loved to lay out on the old plaza years ago. Each day the boss - Curtis Dorsett - arrived to be sure that the work was started and being done as required. Before anyone came into the yard I was asked where the trucks could drive/;park, where the cement mixer could run as it would be messy, and where I wanted any extra rocks placed that were not needed. They were always careful to open and close all gates every time they came and left, which is a hassle, but we have livestock and chickens so it was important to me that they did so. They cleaned up all trash and lunch debris as they went along too. They were careful with the existing plants that I had, and carefully dug a few that would have been trampled and heeled them in at a different spot during the work which I appreciated. After the job was finished, I was asked to look over the work and see that it was done to my satisfaction. The large extra rocks had been placed across the yard along a fenceline like I had asked, and the flat limestone rocks that were left over were left inside the garden bed for stepping stones as I had asked. All of the trash had been picked up and removed. There was almost no evidence that there had been work trucks and a cement mixer in the yard for days, despite the heavy rains and heavy work being done for several days. I really appreciate the attitude of the owner and the workers on this project. Everyone had a positive attitude, and I felt like there would be no problem getting the job done right. I had confidence when it was going on that there would be no mistakes and no sloppy work. I never felt worried about the farm and yard gates being left open, as they were all conscientious about keeping them secure when they came and left, every single trip.

Curtis was very punctual at coming and giving me an estimate, and was very clear on what was included. He showed up and was very professional. He never brought helpers who I would not want in my home around my children (previous contractor did!). He worked normal hours, and kept the place very clean. I can't say enough good things about him and the work he did.

It went well. After a rain delay of a couple of days, they actually showed up earlier than they said. Curtis the owner was very easy to deal with and he called me when he said he would. One detail we forgot to cover was left undone and his crew came back to finish it at no extra charge. At first I thought that their cleanup was poor, but without me saying anything, they completed it after their second visit.

Curtis was the easiest and easily the most honest contractor I have ever had in my home (he still has a key so that I can call him as other projects come up)! He kept costs down and did exceptional work. Our house was built by the original owner in 1975 and is not always "standard" construction practice. Because of this, the work took 7 working days longer than anticipated and he never asked to raise the original price.
