Once they where given the deal, they took forever to show up. When they did, they would do a little bit of work, then disappear and not show up for a while. Then they would show up and set some post, and leave and not show up for weeks. There were countless times when we called John and complained of which he said "they would be there tomorrow", then not show up for many days or a week later. I even called their office and ask to talk to their owner many times and he or she never did return our calls.
What we discussed with John their sales man and what was installed by their project manager (kenney) was not what we agreed upon with during the sales cycle. Then when we started complaining, John told us to stop contacting him and to contact Kenny their project manager, of which Kenny would never respond to our calls, emails, or text messages. When we did get lucky and reach Kenny and discuss what we wanted, he still did it wrong and this was done over and over and over and over and over again.
They are truly the most un-professional contractor that we've ever dealt with and we've remodeled three homes and have even used Viking before on one of our other homes. Hindsight is 20/20, but now I wished we would've gone with Viking or some other more highly rated fence vendor. The quality of A to Z Fence product once done is HORRIFIC at best. They are rude and unouth and un-professional, I truly do not know how they are still in business!!
"In regards to the member post. You know, it is tough for a company to make a customer happy when even they can't make up their own minds. As for being a smooth talking fence salesman, I'll consider the source when contemplating their snide remarks. And that is really the true situation here. The Members would rather complain than have a job completed. They can't get out of their own way when deciding what they want. When the member isn't publically emasculating her husband, she was constantly too busy to be on the job site to approve the changes she wanted. Numerous times A-Z Fence went out and changed the project to their liking. When they didn't like the ranch fence applied to the split rail job, they asked us to cut the wire down at the top and bottom. Cutting the bottom of the fence would allow their dogs to get out of their yard, the primary reason they bought the fence. They also left out the fact that A-Z Fence installed an additional 50' of split rail fence at no extra charge. I guess they were too high on their horse berating my installers to figure that out . The Members also wanted A-Z fence to drill into their stone columns and masonry on their house to attach the iron panels (iron panels which were custom made and carry a 20 year warranty). When A-Z Fence warned the Members not to drill into the masonry because it could be damaged, they were outraged. But SURPRISE! They weren't willing to sign a waiver stating A-Z Fence will do what they wish, but the Members would fully understand this could lead to issues down the road. As for myself as a salesman, I never beg for someones business. I allow them, and even suggest they get at least three estimates from fence companies. And believe me folks, the Members are ALL about the price being the lowest. Once we came to the price they wanted, they signed cheerfully. . I wonder if the Members would like to post photos of our job to let the public see for themselves what a horrendous job A-Z Fence did. Come on Shelley and Mark. Why don't you post some photos? As they say, a picture says a thousand words. So here is a warning to professional contractors of walks. STAY AWAY FROM THE MemberS! I really feel for any contractor who gets caught up with these two. The Members don't need to be wasting their time trashing A-Z Fence. They need a marriage counselor. Good luck to any one who wants to work or help these wingnuts!"
John Molinari was our salesman and the main point of contact. He typically responded quickly to my questions and concerns. Beyond John, the overall project took approximately 10 weeks over what was proposed. Although we were stopped by our neighborhood inspector for not having a permit, this only delayed the project one week. After that, it was difficult to get them out again.
From the onset, the posts were installed only a day late from the proposed start date, which was not a problem. After three weeks of only posts, I called to find out when the fence pickets would be completed. They did show up within a few days. After the pickets were installed, it was again a long delay before the automatic gate was completed (there were several calls in between to inquire as to when things would be finished). Even to this day (two months after), there are screws missing from the metal posts to the fence. I emailed pictures of the missing screws and was told that someone would be out soon to fix this. That was six weeks ago. I've given up! It's a mystery to me how this company stays in business.
I would like to add that on 12/2/12 the guys came back and finished the project after reading this post. I do appreciate that they listened.
"In response to the Member's complaint on this site, I deeply regret she is disapointed in our installation. The Member is correct in regards to the screws still needing to be added to complete her work. That falls squarley on my shoulders. I should have followed up and had the screws attached immediatley. A-Z Fence does carry a two year warranty on it's labor and we will stand by our work. While we were higher on our estimate than another company, it is because the gate and operator were an extensive project that need time to install. As for her delay in response, I wish to except the responsibility and will fix her issues right away. A-Z Fence's success is based on referrals and we have had many. In this particular case, the customer is upset, and she is in her rights to be so. That being said, A-Z Fence has been in business since 1989 and the reason we remain successful is that the majority of customers are completely satisfied with our work and professionalism. I will do everything in my power to make sure the Member's fence is exactly what she paid for."
