I had been using Garys services for nearly 3 years without difficulties.  However, at the end of last year and continuing when I began using him again after returning from an Afghanistan deployment his level of service was quite different.
As his business grew and he added more crew, his quality decreased.  Finally, September was 2013 was the last straw. It started when I asked him to fertilize my lawn and remove an outbreak of crabgrass I had in the St. Augustine on 1 Sep 13.  From the looks of his overall efforts, he simply pulled what grass he could easily get to and trimmed down the rest.  Within days, big patches had returned.  Now when it comes to the fertilizer he was supposed to have done, I didn't seen any of the residue you would see from overspread, as well as any increase in growth since application 3 weeks ago.  I was given a bill of $115 for that.
One week later, I had earlier that week trimmed some branches and put them in a pile on the curb.  The trimmed branches were layed out top to bottom so they could be easily moved and measured about 2' tall and 4-5' square. He came out to mow on 12 Sep 13 and mowed around the pile where he used to move things like that to the side.
This is the text conversation:
Me "Gary, your team didn't bother moving the brush pile to mow under it...."
Garys Lawn Service "No we didn't If we would have put it there we would have moved it'
Me "Took me 5 seconds to move it.  And its going to look like h*** in two weeks"
Garys Lawn Service - No reply for 6 hours
Me "No longer need your lawn service"
Garys Lawn Service "No longer desire to cut there"
Unprofessional and rude to say the least.  Further checks by me found that he had damaged two of my young trees at the base wit their weed trimmers.
