Not so well. After reading reviews on Angie's list, my wife and I decided to hire Rane Roofing for our project. Prior to starting the work, I requested a copy of Rane's general liability insurance to make sure it would cover any problems down the road. I was told by Misty they would sub-contract out the metal roof install to their very experienced 'metal guys' who were dying for work. The crew that showed up was a young man about 22-23 years old with a high-school kid as his helper. Initially I was worried, called Misty and was assured both she as well as Eddie (project foreman) would be on the job daily. The tear off of the old comp roof 36 squares took 4 days, my wife and I were getting flats because the crew had parked a large flat bed trailer in our driveway where they were throwing the debris onto the trailer as well as all over the drive way. I made a number of calls to Misty who would dutifully send out Eddie who would 'talk' with the boys...who continued to be unbelieveably slow. Day 5 the 'crew' now consisted of the 22 year old 'metal guy' and two highschoolers as helpers. Again I called Misty and again Eddie showed up to 'reasure' me he would watch over the project. He didn't, most days he never showed up, I was left picking up debris out of my yard, neighbors yard and my pool. It was patently obvious that 'Juan the Metal Guy' new little to nothing about installing an R panel metal roof. I complained to Misty about the quality of the work, over and under driven screws, no butal tape on seams, panels with no screws etc. Regardless of the number of times I called with concerns I was cajolled by Misty/Eddie/Juan regarding the quality of work. 2.5 weeks later, I am exasperated the 'crew' is finally 'finished', I have cleaned up the mess so many times, I should be on the pay roll. 4 days later we have .5" of rain. ...the house leakes all over the place, on the porch, in the living room, in the kids rooms, in the closets, in the den, in the garage. I call and Eddie and Juan showup to inspect. I climb up on the roof to point out the obvious mistakes, Eddie wants to cover everything with caulk, Juan doesn't know what to do. There are hundreds of screws that were driven so deep the metal is dimpled, there are hundereds of screws driven on an angle, there are hundreds of screws underdriven,...regardless Eddie insists to redrive screws and cover with caulk. Two weeks later we get 1.5 inches of rain...nothing is improved, nothing. Eddie and Juan have been out to the house 4 times now, to make 'repairs'...it is early February, new metal roof, still leaks all over the place. Our area begins to receive rain in April, May and June, I call Rane dozens of times...no answer, not able to leave message...I go by the office...it is no occupied by another business, Rane (big suprise) is out of business. I do a little digging and discover Rane roofing was purchased from a reputible roofer by one David Vogelsang, who was the owner when my house was trashed by his 'experienced metal guys'...I discover he has moved to Corpus Christi, refuses to return phone calls or emails. I have contacted my attorney. In terms of the quality of Angies list and whether this business 'checks up' on contracters, don't bet one it. I'm in for a long legal fight that will cost a great deal of money...I could have done just as well with the yellow pages.

It went well. I called several local companies and they responded back promptly. We met signed the contract and they began about two weeks later. The work was done in about two days. Very good job. I would use them again.
