Dick's introduction to our pool rejuevenation project was coordinated by another company in Arlington to address equipment needs in August. He came out and sold us on the advantages of a salt water chlorine generator system and a new pump and prefilter. He promised to also get our light and slide in proper working order. I offered to give him an old gas heater that had actually never been used that a previous owner of the house had placed amongst the equipment but never connected. He also promised to oversee the sweeping, chemical treatment, and curing of the new Diamond Brite plaster that the other company was going to install. The plaster was applied on August 25, 2008. He installed the new pump on the same day to ensure that the system would be ready when the pool was full to begin circulating the water. During this installation work, he resolved that the entire DE filter and booster pump should be replaced. I okayed the DE filter replacement and he agreed to give me a rebuilt booster pump in exchange for the heater equipment I gave him along with the purchases I had already made from him. The initial start-up and curing process went fine but then the struggles began in getting the rest of the work finished. Dick's mother in Iowa was diagnosed with cancer and he has had to travel quite a bit to tend to her. I'm empathetic about this burden, but a business professional must make alternative arrangements and keep clients in the communication loop when plans change. Neither of these have occured at all. Numerous promises to come finish the work have been made with only one significant appearance on October 25 to actually connect the electrolysis device. Still as of December 3, we still have no salt in the pool, so I'm still using conventional chlorine. We have no booster pump for a pool sweep, so I'm spending hours fishing out leaves. The slide supply pipe has a leak that I've acknowledged giving up on - I'll take care of a work around. I typically call and leave a message unless his mail box is full and doesn't let me leave a message. Dick will promise to come out and finish and then he may or may not show up, and has never proactively called to let me know what to expect. He's a very bright, likeable, skilled guy, but lacks incredibly in keeping promises, follow through, and communication - very frustrating. All other associations with the coordinatating company were great, but they have also failed to remedy this situation and has not provided a turn-key pool rejuevenation as promised.
