KAF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

We were impressed with KAF at the beginning. Quick quote, nice design and competitive cost. A while after installation, though, we were disappointed. Plants did not thrive, and dead plants were not replaced after repeated phone calls (we were promised one year warranty). As the living plants matured, we realized they were planted poorly - both from location (small plants behind larger ones) and the soil had not been prepped appropriately as we had requested and they promised to do. We have heavy clay, so planting without amending the soil is a death sentence for plants. Now, only two years after their original installation, we've spent more than $10,000 replacing shrubs and trees, and amending the soil so that the plants have a good foundation in which to grow. Plus the landscaper we're using now does not plant anything unless he knows it will grow in our area (for example, all the many encore azaleas KAF planted promptly died). The irrigation system installed has performed well, but we purchased a system with the ability to add many more zones. When I called to have a zone added, I was told it was going to be over $1,000 to add just the one zone! To add insult to injury, they did not mark where the boxes were in the sod that we needed to access to have a zone added - and he refused to come out and mark where the boxes were. Luckily, I was able to find someone from the original crew that did the installation who came out and added the zone (after digging up a bit of the yard to find the boxes) for $200.
