Holman Built

When my wife told me who she had hired, I told her she was making a big mistake. I told her "If you want to have a door installed properly, hire a door guy, not a handyman." She wouldn't listen to me, and had this handyman install our door and locks, anyway. Well, he apparently dropped the lock assembly, when installing it, and now we have a big dent in the lock on our FRONT DOOR. It looks terrible! He also is an amateur at routering the cutouts for the hinges and the cutouts for the striker plates. They look unbelievably terrible...I'm almost embarrased for anyone to see it...and, it's on my FRONT DOOR, so everyone going through sees it. He also did NOT install the metal security strike plate for either of the deadbolts he installed. He just left them (the security strike plates) in the packages. This ticked me off! My deadbolts are now, basically, just decorative items...and if someone wants in, they can easily just kick the doors in. The security strike plate should be installed and secured to the 2x6 door framing, which would make it fairly difficult to kick the door in. This guy apparently doesn't care. I didn't call him back, because I did NOT want him doing anything else to my home! Stay away from Holman Built, if you want a fine door job done with attention to detail. He may be good for general work...but definitely not finely detailed work. I won't use him, again!
