PAM'S UPHOLSTERER

To Whom It May Concern: It is my intention to help others who may be looking for an upholsterer to be wary based on the situation I experienced with a local upholsterer. I live in Katy, Texas and for years noticed this little shop, so when I needed an upholsterer, that is the first one I thought of ? giving business to a local supplier thinking they must be good since they?ve been here for decades? so not true. Here is what happened: I called them out to give me a quote on recovering and repairing a queen sofa bed, reupholstering and re-glueing a wooden rocker and cutting down a cushion and creating a Velcro strap on that cushion for a piano bench. They assured me they could do the work. The sofa bed was NOT repaired, so the fact they reupholstered it was a mute point since I would not have had it done if I could not utilize the bed part of the sofa. They did their own ideas of reupholstering without checking with me if that is what I wanted. They did not glue the rocker down properly (dowel not in socket) so when I asked them to fix it, they broke the arm, glued it back and delivered it without even telling me they ruined the rocker. They drilled holes in an heirloom piano bench when I had asked them to Velcro the cushion so now there are holes in the wood which when sat on will obviously tear the fabric. I had to threaten to get the last piece done and delivered (piano bench). They were quick to finish most everything to get their money, promising to deliver the bench the following week, so I paid them. BIG MISTAKE. After that they were non-responsive in my requests for the bench until I asked for my money back. This upholsterer does not have a website nor are they members of the Better Business Bureau for me to file some type of report or give a review on. My only recourse is to educate others on my mistake and ensure that this upholsterer receives no further business from anyone I come in contact with. My advice (learned a little too late for myself) is do not give money to businesses until you receive ALL your items and receive them in SATISFACTORY condition. If I had done this, I would have been out the deposit and nothing else because they had no recourse based on their handling or lack thereof of my business.
