This was for putting plywood sheeting in the attic of a brand new home... so the job wasn't very complicated. 1. Mr. Handyman mis-bid the job by only writing up the bid for 6 sheets instead of the 9 sheets it required. I dont know if this was simply a mistake by the technician or this is a bait and switch scam they commonly use to show the customer a lower price in order to get the job... and then come back after theyve already started working on the job and tell the customer, Oh, sorry, we are going to have to charge you for 3 more sheets in order to finish the job. 2. After I accepted the bid (obviously, if I would have known the didnt bid the entire job - I wouldnt have accepted their bid) they told me they bid the wrong material that was not to code and would have to install 3/4 inch plywood instead of 1/2 inch plywood. At no time did they indicated the price would be different. 3. The technician showed up to do the work and did verbally mention, The material costs were a little bit higher due to the thicker plywood. 4. As mentioned above, they were 3 sheets short of completing the job. 5. The bill I was given went from $85 for materials to $515 in materials... an increase of over 500%!!!!! 6. But worse than the price is I had to pay another company to come out and finish the job and install the final 3 sheets. The work they did do was fine, but as I wrote above - this wasnt a difficult job. I do not recommend this company as I strongly question their business practices.

"1 - After we provided your estimate for the 6 plywood sheets (never 9 as you are describing in the review) 2- YOU!, called the office to upgrade from 1/2" to 3/4" plywood and we verbally discussed this might impact the estimate (We have the phone records). 3- Upon arrival, our technician did the same, he verbally told you to expect to pay an additional cost for the materials plus we finished the project in less time than we estimated, saving you 1 hr. on the original labor cost. Our mistake was not specifying to you how much the material difference was before moving forward with the job and for that, we apologize. Respectfully Mr. Handyman of Cinco Ranch & South Katy"

Communication and responsiveness for planning and estimate were good. The price quoted for the work seemed fair. Required pre-payment of materials not specified in their Terms and Conditions language of the estimate provided. Unable to keep our agreed-upon schedule. I actually ended up canceling the project because I scheduled time off from work for the date they gave me and then they came back and said no guarantee they could make the date. Seemed pretty professional up until that point. On-time is actually part of their tag line, they should probably remove that. Customers cannot just re-schedule their work requirements based on the needs of the contractor.

$450 to hang a $56 door. Had to do it- house I sold required a professionally installed door. In their defense, they did give me a 25 coupon and lowered it to $410 after I complained even more.

"Jorge thanks for your feedback. Sorry to respectfully disagree with you since we provided you an estimated cost for the installation, that you approved from the beginning. Also, not considering the fact the paint provided was bad and we had to step out to get new paint and hardware to complete your project. It is unrealistic not to expect an increase on the final invoice after calling you to explain you we are adding more time and materials to your project. Customer choose us for the convenience and professionalism, not base on the cost of the materials we are working with."

The job was painting a kitchen table and six chairs. The chairs came out all right, but they were unable to do a good job on the table top (the bottom of the table was good). They had trouble with the paint--it would not brush out smoothly. They delivered it as "done," but the paint was not dry. It took about a month and a half before it finally was dry. The top of the table is not smooth. Some areas are very uneven. Someday I will have someone work on the table top.
