Katy Exhaust Pros Plus

More than anything else, they have been good about telling me this is what needs to be done and either I can do it or they will do it for me if I can't. They are very nice.

This review is not just about this repair.  I take both of my cars /trucks to Exhaust Pros and have for years.
If you ever wanted a mechanic you could trust and that did good work these are your guys.

I have sent friends and now they only go there. This is a family run kind of business but they know their stuff and have great prices and back up their work.  I have lived in the area 30 years and this is the best overall mechanic I have found.  If he can't do it he will tell you and probably send you away with the correct diagnosis anyway.

On several occasions, I've used them for minor issues and in some cases they have fixed them for free or they said that this is a minor issue that you could probably handle it yourself. I've sent my daughter in law there and she thought there was one problem with the automobile and it turned out to be very simple that they resolved for a less cost if she would have gone to a dealer.

My first visit to Katy Exhaust Pros was due to my check engine light coming on. My throttle body was bad, but Roger (the owner) tried to get me the best price by just replacing the valve. As it turned out, I had to buy the whole part, but he charged me a reasonable price to install it.
My second visit was to have my cold air intake installed. I ordered the part online and took it to them to install, and got a better price than the local truck modification shops.
My last visit was for my custom exhaust. I told Roger exactly what I wanted, and he delivered as promised. I went back about 5 months later because I had a change in preference, and they updated my exhaust to my new specs AND replaced my radiator within only a few hours.
I want to comment on some of the other reviewer's comments about the owner's disposition. You are there to get a service done, not socialize. Roger is straight forward and to the point, and he provides quality work- no fluff. If you want a smiling face and a few nice words, go in when his wife is working because she's very friendly and kind.
Every time I've gone in to have work done, I've paid exactly what he quoted me. There were no surprises or hidden charges like I've had with other shops in Katy. I don't review businesses often, but I felt I needed to give one for Katy Exhaust Pros because they deserve it. They are my go- to shop for any service I need that they are able to provide.

Fantastic shop. Best auto repair business in Houston! I recently took my 1999 Mercury Cougar on a very discouraging tour of auto shops in the Cinco Ranch area before finding this incredible business. Not only were the guys at Katy Exhaust Pros extremely helpful, they are very honest, down to earth, and do not play money games. After explaining all of my troubles with the car and the various other shops, Katy Exhaust Pros embarked on a truly amazing journey to figure out what was really wrong with my vehicle. It was running at about half power and none of the other shops had been able to figure out why... despite my shelling out a lot of money. My first stop was at Carsport Automotive. They told me the loss of power was due to a bad Mass Airflow Sensor and that I also needed new spark plugs and spark plug wires. Estimate was $500. So I took it to Cinco Car Care for a second opinion. They discovered that the lid to my air filter box was not secured and all the clips were missing. I fixed this myself but it did not help. I was a little disappointed with Carsport Automotive for not noticing something so obvious, so I decided to let Cinco Car Care have a go at diagnosing and fixing the problem. At first they thought it was the clutch. Estimate was $1500. Then they decided to do some serious diagnostics and found the fuel pump underperfoming. Total cost for diagnostics, new fuel pump, fuel filter, and some electronics was $1000. Did all that work and the problem still wasn't fixed! So they said it had to be the catalytic converter. Estimate was $1500. I told them to take a hike, drove over to Katy Exhaust Pros and told them to put in a new catalytic converter. I should have had them try to diagnose the problem at the time, but I was upset and didn't realize they were much more than just a muffler shop. They only charged me $480 installed. When they were done with it and the problem still wasn't fixed, I started explaing the whole story. They offered to attempt diagnosing the problem at no cost and took it as a personal challenge to figure it out. When a brand new Mass Airflow Sensor didn't work, they took it back out, put the old one back in, returned the part, and didn't charge me a dime! They did show me where the spark plugs and wires had become saturated with oil from a leaking head gasket and suggested that it needed to be fixed either way and might fix the problem. So they did all that work (including a new head gasket) and only charged me for the parts because the problem still wasn't fixed. Only like $150. Now they were really mad. He spent an entire day going through everything else that could be wrong, hooking up diagnostics, etc and finally discovered the darn timing belt had slipped a tooth or two and was partially out of sync. They only charged me $100 for everything. It is now running better than ever. The bottom line is that if I had brought it to Katy Exhaust Pros in the first place I would have only been out $250. Because I took it to Cinco Car Care (and to a lesser extent Carsport Automotive) I am out $1750. Save yourself the trouble (and $1500 in my case) and take your car straight to Katy Exhause Pros. Don't be fooled by the location or look of the area/place. This is a top notch shop with extremely fair, honest, hardworking, intelligent mechanics. In addition to being a super-advanced exhaust shop, they also do all types of mechanical work including tune ups, auto repair, etc. I will be a lifelong customer of this shop and send everyone I know that way. It is tough to find an excellent mechanic that is fair and honest. To date I have already referred several other people that have had the same (or better) experience than I did.
