Katy Busy Bee

Mark was excellent. We had bees in an exterior wall in our living room. Because our house has a rock exterior, he could not get to the bees from the outside and had to remove some of the sheet rock to get to the bees. He set up a floor-to-ceiling plastic barrier around his work area to prevent the bees from going all over the house and to contain the dust from the sheet rock. After removing the bees, he cleaned everything up and did an excellent job in repairing the sheet rock. Mark is also a great handyman. Months earlier, we had a Hardie Plank board get knocked off our addition and he not only fixed that but he fixed the root cause of the problem while he was here. He was on time and did excellent work. We liked the fact that he is a beekeeper and he did not exterminate the bees but captured the queen and most of the bees to take back to Katy.

Mark and his helper, in this case his daughter, arrived when expected, did excellent work and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. The location of the hive was difficult at best, but Mark did an amazingly good job of opening the soffit and removing the bees. His daughter, Vivi, served as his ground crew and did an excellent job herself. I have had so-called grown men that didn't work as well and as hard as she did. It was a true pleasure watching him and her work in such a professional and workman-like manner. After working for around 8 hours are more to remove the bees Mark then closed up and sealed the soffit so that it looked as if it had never been disturbed. Having raised honey bees as a young man with my father I had a keen interest in saving and moving the bees to a safe location. Mark made that possible. Both he and his daughter were very knowledgeable about every aspect of honey bees and answered my many questions without hesitation. I really can't say enough good things about Mark's thoroughness and quality of work. My life-long philosophy is that I will not and have never recommended anyone for a job unless I know they will do an honest day's work. Mark gets my absolute strongest recommendation.

I called Mark to refer one of my clients to him and he was so helpful! He is Extremely knowledgeable and knows his stuff. His pricing was very fair and because of this my client choose to work with him. I called after to see how it went and she raved about him! Said he was so nice, extremely thorough and took care of their problem once and for all. Would highly recommend!

Katy Busy Bee was very punctual, and certainly knew what they were doing. They're one of the very few that offered a LIFETIME warranty on their work. That's important, because this was the 5th or 6th time our bees had come back after other bee removal 'experts' had removed them. We'd even tried an exterminator. All those only had one year warranties, and then the bees would come back just a month or two after those were up! This happened every year. I was going nuts. So Mr. Lockhart is slightly more expensive than average, but also worth it, in my opinion because of that warranty. Mark and his helper arrived on time and set up quickly. Some jobs go easier than others. Because our bees were half behind brick and half in the eaves, our job took all day. Mark packed the hole with insulation so the bees wouldn't have any room to move back! I'm hopeful the bees survived. Mark does try to relocate them if at all possible, but it was wicked cold the day they were extracted, so perhaps they didn't fare so well. The point is that he tries to keep them alive so they can thrive and attempt to replenish the dying feral bee population. Mark's clean up and repair work afterward were impeccable! Having had several others come out for the darn bees over the years, let me tell you that his repair is barely visible. The others from previous 'experts' were horrid. He is truly a handyman. A small portion of my bricks had to be removed, and I can't even tell he did it. The ONLY con I can even think of is that he and his helper weren't always using language I would have considered professional. Mark was on a two story ladder outside of my room, and me and my daughter were doing her homework. He was shouting down some jokes to his helper that I would have rather she not heard. And there was some swearing. (They were professional while we were outside with them. But not when we entered the house. Too bad they didn't realize we could very clearly hear them, still.) Now, this aside - Mark is absolutely someone I'd hire again, and I wouldn't give a darn about language. I don't think anyone else does as good of work. I can always get my child out of the house for a day. I can't hire anyone else I'd trust more, though. But if you really care about the language then perhaps he's not the guy to do your bee removal. I wish I could refer you to another beekeeper, but Mark is the ONLY ONE that offers a decent warranty that I know of. And is certainly the only one of five or six removers that has managed to do an excellent job at the repair work afterward.
