The vacuum headlight system repairs did not go as well. I had to make at least 2 return trips to get the headlights operating with the A/C system turned off. Once the A/C system was repaired (by another garage for 50% less than Bumberas quoted me) the headlights did not work properly again. I discovered that there was an "extra" vacuum line from the headlight vacuum system that was connected to the ventaliation vacuum system that did not belong there. This was fustrating because I gave Bumberas the Service Manual to use to make the repairs! Had they looked at the Service Manual they would have discovered the problem. I finally made the repair myself by removing the "extra" vacuum line that should not have been there. Everything works properly now.

The brake light problem turned out to be in the turn signal switch inside the steering column. When I brought the car in the turn signals and cornering lights worked properly, but I did not have brake lights. When I got the car back, I had brake lights and turn signals, but the cornering lights did not work. Took the car back again to get the cornering lights back. When I got the car back the cornering lights came on anytime the turn signals were used, not just when the turn signals were used when the lights were on - the way it is supposed to operate. Left it that way because I was tired of taking the car back to them! In January 2014 the brake lights stopped working again. Took it back and thought the repairs done in May 2013 were covered under their 24 months parts and labor warranty. Not so. I was charged again to fix the brake lights!

In August 2013 I had the carburetor on the car rebuilt. I got the car back and it did not operate properly. It hesitated when under heavy acceleration. After multiple return visits, they discovered that the carburetor was missing a spring from the rebuild. The spring was put in and the carburetor worked fine.

In September 2013 the car overheated. After receiving their estimate to rebuild the engine (GULP !) I took it to another garage and had the engine AND transmission rebuilt for less than 1/2 the estimate from Bumberas! As a result of overheating it needed a new carburetor.

In November 2013 I bought a used, orignal factory correct carburetor for the car, to be rebuilt. I took it to Bumberas even though their price was more than double what anyone else had estimated to do the rebuild. The main resason was that the others all said it would take between 2-3 months, and I did not want to wait that long! Well, turned out that the rebuild took two months at Bumberas due to holidays, illnesses, other work they were doing, etc. The carb was installed in January 2014. When I picked up the car the choke did not work. Took the car back, and now the choke will not come off of high idle. Car is also difficult to start when it is warm. I give up! Tired of always taking it back for rework. Taking it to someone else to have the carburetor repaired!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The people who work at Bumberas are very nice people. Their prices are high, and I would not mind that if the work was of high quality and done right the first time. Unfortunately, I have had to make multiple return trips for everything they have done except for repairing the fuel guage ground. Very fustrating and time consuming - espically the carburetor work - which is supposed to be their speciality! I am not impressed!
