The work was done poorly. We were told by the contractor that they would be able to match our upper banister. We paid a deposit so that they could secure materials. They showed up half a day late as they were scrambling around the morning of trying to find the matching materials. The materials they ended up with did not match exactly. On the second day, they could not find a post to match the original. I was offered several options, none of which would have matched. I was not impressed with them at this point. We finally agreed that they would cut the top of the post to make it the right size and reattach the top. I was told that once it was painted, it would not be noticeable. Day 3, the painter was supposed to show up but did not. The banister was painted on day 4 and was a horrendous paint job - lots of paint drips, brush streaks and general sloppiness. I could have done a better job! I requested them to fix it. They came and repainted but only made it look worse. I had them come back, fix a spot on the wall that wasn’t textured and asked them to repaint the post as the line where they cut it was still showing. They did all these things but the banister still looks horrendous. The carpentry on the trim is also very poorly done. Overall, a terrible job. I have talked to painters and have been told that it is not worth my money to repaint it as the entire thing just needs to be replaced - the work they did is that bad.
