Nathan came out to look at the job, and had an estimate within a day. Others took far longer and were not as consistent.He came to do the job, got it built installed and painted. Nathan was flexible and the quality was excellent. I have asked him to give me an estimate on another job.

We initially hired Nathan for a small cabinetry job on the kindly recommendation of another excellent Angie's List contractor, Kevin Gwyn of Clear Creek Home Improvements. I especially enjoyed the precision of his workmanship when he cut a piece of hardwood and it was a perfect press-fit into place, first try. We did not know Nathan also laid tile until he found out we planned to have tile installed in our kitchen and asked to offer a bid, but after we had seen how carefully he worked on wood, we were glad to take his bid. It turned out to be the lowest bid of four by a considerable margin so hiring him to install tile we had already picked out and purchased at Lowes was a no-brainer.
We have an octagonal ceiling treatment at one end of our kitchen and wanted to match that theme in the tile under it. We had done our homework on this and were able to give Nathan a fairly accurate computer-generated graphic of the pattern we wanted. His job was to turn a graphic into reality. It required precision in five ways: 1) a two-inch square hole had to be cut in the center of a 12x12 tile to accept a small glazed medallion, 2) the octagonal border had oddly shaped corners which each required 3 exact cuts, 3) the 16x16 tiles surrounding the octagon had to be symmetrically cut and placed, 4) any error much larger than 1/8 - 1/4 in. in the whole layout would be noticeable because of all the symmetry, and 5) we wanted the narrowest possible grout line. Nathan took the time (hours) to lay everything out perfectly before marking, cutting, and cementing the tiles. The fit was so precise that all the tiles in the pattern and the surrounding 16x16 diamond layout pattern were butted edge to edge. The medallion was (again) a press-fit into its hole. There are NO extra-wide grout lines anywhere on the floor - a perfect and perfectly symmetric fit. (I wish we could attach a photo or two!)
In addition to the quality of his workmanship, Nathan was easy to work with. We are both pretty "particular", and he didn't mind us looking over his shoulder and making the occasional suggestion or observation. (What we DIDN'T do was change the plan after work began. Wouldn't recommend that with anyone.) There was no nickel-and-diming, forgetting details of agreements, or other unpleasantness. He was punctual and reliable and is clearly a man of his word.
We are more than satisfied and will certainly call on Westco in the future.
