STAY AWAY!!!! The poor reviews are correct. We have a similar story along with three other people that got screwed at the same time. He uses the money you pay to start another project not finish yours until he finds another customer/chump to use his company. We had to file a lawsuit along with several other past clients.

I had hoped to wait until after everything was finished to post this review but then I realized that I might be able to help someone else avoid this contractor by posting my review now. I'll update it if anything changes. I've never been so frustrated with a contractor. Darrell stood in our backyard more than 1 year ago and agreed on a design and a price. We were told at the time that it will take 3-6 months because of backlog. It took 3 months for Darrell to finally get the plans submitted for a permit. and another 2 months for us to finally get a hole started in our backyard. Keep in mind, all the while, we are texting and calling trying to get a status update. If we don't get ghosted by Darrell he gives vague non-answers like "you're on the schedule". When considering Burleson Custom Pools and Darrell James keep in mind that you will be frustrated, and it will take a LOT longer than he tells you. Also, Darrell is just a general contractor - he doesn't employ anyone who does the actual work. His subcontractors will tell you exactly what it's like working for Darrell - lots of last minute calls and requests. As of today, more than 12 months later, we continue to wait for the electrician to come and finish his work, then we'll be waiting for the plaster. Who knows what will happen when the equipment is finally turned on and we've lost all hope that Darrell will actually follow through and do the last punch-list items like regrading the areas torn up with the equipment.

Do not use this guy. He will steal your money and never respond to texts. "Shady" is an understatement. Started build in April of 2020 and by Jun 30th we were still waiting for it to be done. Then he says if we want it done by July 4th going to cost extra. Never came back to finish concrete. Guy is a joke. have all the texts to prove it.
