This is my most recent experience at VALVOLINE EXPRESS CARE, 2333 W. Shady Grove Rd., Irving, TX 75060
I wanted to get the transmission fluid changed out on my 2004 Toyota Sienna van and to add a bottle of Lucas anti-slip to the transmission as I noticed the first signs of the transmission starting to slip in first gear. I was hoping to nurse the transmission for the next year or so before spending money on a rebuild. The day after getting the transmission service at Valvoline Express Care I was driving across town and noticed my "check engine" light was illuminated. I stopped at my regular mechanic's shop and asked them to find the cause. It turned out to be a bad oxygen sensor (not related to the transmission). When the mechanic moved my van he noticed a pool of transmission fluid where it had been parked. He put the van on the rack and found the undercarriage was coated with transmission fluid front to back. He said the transmission fluid had been badly over-serviced and he drained off the excess fluid. He was amazed at how much fluid coated the underside of my van and how much he had to remove to get the fluid level down to "full".
I did not want to risk driving the van with a compromised transmission. I was concerned the seals would likely leak and resolved to get the transmission looked at by a transmission specialist. On my way to the transmission shop I stopped at Valvoline Express Care to show them the undercarriage of my van and to get a refund.
I talked to Mike Davis, who had performed the "transmission service" on Tuesday and asked for the refund and asked him to have a look at the undercarriage of my van. He said there would be no refund and explained that what I told him had happened is not possible because the machine he uses for the transmission service drains out the old fluid and puts the exact same amount of new fluid in. He was not interested in looking at the undercarriage of my van.
I'm now concerned that the seals in the transmission are compromised and I'm having the transmission rebuild, that I had hoped to delay, done now. The transmission "service" at Valvoline Express Care was a waste of money and time. I won't use their services again.
