CHAUCER MANAGEMENT SVC

We used Chaucer Property Management for almost three years. There were several property manager issues (payment of rent to us late, incorrect lease agreements, invalid charges, etc.) over that period but few major problems. The condo was occupied when Patti Wolff became property manager and the tenants were under one year leases. The last lease came up in May 2013 but the tenant was struggling in their business but wanted to renew the lease. They requested a short month to month lease until they were sure they could commit. Since they had been good, long term tenants, we agreed to a two month extension but Ms. Wolff was to put the unit on the market at the end of May in case there was no renewal. June came and the condo was not listed on MLS or anywhere and the tenant informed us they could not stay. After much cajoling, the condo finally got listed on MLS in early July but without pictures and incorrect square footage. The correction to the MLS listing came July 10 but was very poor. During this period, she would not respond to e-mails and finally not phone calls. With this totally unprofessional and rude behavior we terminated our relationship on July 15. We hired another property manager who got a tenant in 30 days at a lease 6% higher than what Chaucer said we could get. The new manager's fees are 30% lower than what we were paying. It's our view that Chaucer doesn't know the market, is not professional and can't effectively manage property.
