The Mom-n-Pop Shop

We had had several contractors out to bid on this job. The roof is 6/12 pitch, extremely steep. Many companies refused to come out to give a bid once they heard the pitch of the roof. Other businesses came out to bid and then refused the job for many reasons; the pitch of the roof, our family pets (6 dogs they wanted kept indoors during their work hours) and because they wanted to add on to the job, have us bonded for possible injury, and replace the roof entirely . They also wanted to leave the debris and we would have to do our own clean up.

Mom-n-Pop, who are fully insured, came to our home and acquainted themselves with our pets which allowed our animals to roam freely when possible and kept a happy work environment on our property. This was very important to us. Pop then used his military mountain climbing training to safely climb the roof and remove the heating system. Mom moved all our garden displays and pottery ensuring nothing was broken during the removal process. Pop, after removing the solar heating system, filled the screw holes to weatherproof the roof once again. The screw holes had never been sealed originally by the company who installed the system and it was creating water damage in our home. This was a 3 day project: removal, sealing and then the third day was to recheck the holes to ensure they were completely sealed to prevent anymore damage to our home. They also cleaned up the debris to be recycled. Mom-n-Pop stayed with the job, from start to finish, instead of sending out a labor force that could not fully communicate with us ensuring the job was finished to our satisfaction.

Our biggest selling point is that The Mom-n-Pop Shop are animal-friendly. We have 6 dogs, who are our family, and they took the time to get to know them individually so they could work freely in our home. Other businesses require that we put our pets inside and lock them out of the work area. Our critters' world was not upset by their presence.

The job was to repair, not sandblast and resurface, and paint our pool. They followed these guidelines exactly without trying to inflate the job. Mom-n-Pop hand-sanded the repaired areas to ensure it blended with the rest of the surface of the pool. They were very meticulous in taping the tile, taping the fixtures and kept the pool area free of excess paint. They evaluated the pool after each coat of paint to determine how many more coats it needed. Tam and Anthony Lipsie arrived promptly and went to work quickly. After each coat, they allowed the paint to dry overnight instead of painting two coats each day. This was another one of our requests. We wanted each coat to have time to set properly because of the humidity. They also cleaned up their work area each day and left their work area cleaner than how they found it. Each day they removed all debris from the pool and their work area to ensure the freshly painted area was clear of all foreign objects.

They restored my vehicle to better than when we drove it off the lot. It smelled wonderful and glowed in the sun. They obviously enjoy working together. Their enthusiasm is reflected in their work. I intend to have them return to detail my vehicle at the end of the summer. They would have come to my home to provide the service, but I work in Grapevine, TX so they offered to detail it at their home while I worked. The detail that they offer is a complete detail. It is time consuming, but a true detail that removed soil, drink spills, pet fur and the grime associated with allowing my children to eat in my SUV.
