When I thought there might be an issue and attempted to contact them, it took them a month to answer my call, then they told me I needed to get another engineering report.  He was very condescending when I talked with him, and explained how busy he was in Arkansas, had no cell phone coverage, etc.  I got the engineering report (which the engineer said I really didn't need - $350 expense) and it has now been almost two months since I sent it to them and they have not been responsive.
Response from Smart Foundation Repair, LLC
"A bank owned property ( foreclosure ) is conveyed without any warranties. The buyers sign many documents at closing indicating they understand that this property is being acquired " As is where is ". We understand the concerns of the consumer as it relates to properties with previous foundation issues since the choice of the repair contractor was not in the hands of the buyer and in an attempt to calm the concerns of the buyers related specifically to the foundation repairs, we have developed a warranty that places the requested re-inspection of the property back on the engineer that developed the original repair plan and the subsequent final ( post repair inspection ) report. This inspection being provided by an impartial third party should reflect a true and correct representation of the condition of the property and the need for any additional repairs. Unfortunately, the engineers do charge for their reinspection. We have found that the consumers respond in a very positive manner having the Licensed Professional Engineer provide the reinspection, especially since they have a history with the property. We sincerely apologize for the lack of performace (Member name removed) received. We were moving our offices into a new space, expanding into a new state and the remodel took significantly longer than anticipated. We had outsourced our inbound calls to a third party ( huge mistake on my part and I have assumed full responsibility for our shortcomings ) and didn't know they were not getting responded to in a timely manner. As for the " condescending " comment, I spoke with (Member name removed) and if the content or context of the conversations were deemed to be condescending I truly apologize. It was not my intent. Unfortunately, when we receive information we do not like or agree with we all tend to escalate the conversation to new levels, especially when they have not been responded to in a timely manner. We have a pretty good understanding of the foundation repair process in N Texas, most consumers experience is limited to the TV/Radio/Newspaper advertisements they see or hear. This can lead to certain misconceptions. (Member name removed) engineer report indicates the need for a few additional piers and the adjustment of 2 existing piers. Based upon the size of the original repair plan I would say this has been a pretty successful repair. Again, I am very sorry (Member name removed) has had anything less than a good experience and we will continue to work to improve. Wade Shumway"
