Before I started using Angie's List, I called the local Plumber who had left his sticker on the old water heater when I needed a new water heater. That was a mistake. I did not know at that time that DFW Plumbing had no customer reports filed in Angie's List. I called DFW Plumbing for a replacement water heater. I should have looked for a good plumber using Angie's List. Roy Smith (owner of DFW Plumbing) and his helper removed a 15+ year old water heater and replace it with a new unit. They also installed a new vent pipe, drain pan, cut-off valve and gas line. About 8 months later, we noticed a gas smell in the area of the water heater. We called the gas Company and they immediately sent out a service technician. He checked the entire gas system and located a leak where the new gas line connected to the control box on the water heater. the plumber did not seal the threads with any pipe tape or other sealent. The gas Company man said the plumber forgot to use tape in the joint and that we needed to get it repaired. He left the gas turned off until it was repaired. We called DFW Plumbing to get the gas leak repaired and were told by the lady answering the phone that the owner had a heart attack and was no longer in business. We then called another (what we thought was local) plumber, Tri-Cities Plumbing, who was referred to us by the lady at DFW Plumbing. Tri-Cities is listed as being near to us, on Highway 10. However, Tri-Cities has moved to Haslet, Texas. We scheduled the repair for the next day with Tri-Cities Plumbing. The repair went smoothly. It took them about 5 minutes to add pipe tape to the joint and it cost $122.45 for the house call and repair. I would NOT RECOMMEND DFW Plumbing, however this will not matter now, since they have gone out of business.
