The members of this company's team did respond in a very timely manner to my call following Hurricane. They were recommended to me by another contractor who had done good work for me in the past, but who had left the home improvement business. The first repair undertaken by Home Doctor was a small, but possibly strategic roof repair. The work was undertaken within 8 days of the hurricane damage and took a day to complete. Other work was done intermittently over the course of 13 months, when the vendor's availability and my schedule meshed. Problems began to appear during the course of the remaining work: 1. Sheetrockers did not make appropriate cut-outs in hall wall drywall for the heating/ac thermostat or for the AC/heat Air return. This had to be brought to their attention AFTER the drywall had been installed and taped in order to have it accommodated. 2. Instructions were not followed when door replacements were made - I had asked that a bedrom doorl door which had had a deadbold be replaced with a door with only a knob-lock and had asked that a door to the garage which had had a knob-lock be replaced with a new door with knob lock. The vendor replaced the old bedroom door with a new one which had been pre-cut for installation of a deadbolt lock and with no knob lock. The vendor replaced the door to the garage with a door with no knob lock. This was never corrected 3. Although a small flood had ocurred within the first 10 feet of hallway, The vendor removed all the laminate flooring in the entire hallway 20+ foot hallway and also in the adjacent kitchen. He assured me that he would find either a New matching or complementary to install flooring ( the greatroom and all rooms beyond the kitchen and hall were covered in the same laminate). He did not seek an alternative flooring. Instead, he used up all of the reserve laminate I had saved for patching the floors in the rest of the house. A year later, the laminate pieces in the kitchen began to separate and it became clear that I would have to call in another vendor to replace all the flooring that this vendor had installed 4. Asked to create a permanent wooden ladder stair between my loft and the door to my attic ( 4 feet above loft floor) and given free reign on engineering, design and execution the vendor deliverd a pleasant looking set of ladder stairs that he did NOT connect to the wall and whose steps he did not tie in with screws or reinforce. As a result, the first time that I asked a friend to help me carry items into the attic, the stairs broke, almost injuring my friend. The vendor came and made corrections and repairs that he indicated would be adequate. A few months later repairment had to access the furnace in my attic and the stairs again broke. It was then that they pointed out to me that they lacked very basic elements that stairs require in order for steps to bear weight. At that point I was convinced that this vendor was not competent and incapable of correcting any of his own mistakes and careless work. All the paid work performed by thid vendor, except for the roof repair and the corrected drywall in my hallway, is now on a queue for replacement.
Description of Work: Small Repair to roof. re-drywall and repainting of approx 18 feet of wall in a hallway. Replace about 150 sq feet of laminate flooring. Replaced two hollow-core doors, constructed short stair/ladder to attic door 4 feet above floor level.
