Animal Training Service
Max just graduated in August from K9s with Class and it was worth every penny. I think it was a seven week class and they train the owners to be better owners basically. Her name is Kathy and she is absolutely fabulous. She studied exotic animals, but dogs are her first love and when she moved back to Iowa she wanted to work with dogs. She does a grooming business as well but also does dog training. We were at our wits end with our puppy when he was getting out of the puppy stage and was really naughty and I was about to the point where I was talking to my husband about maybe getting rid of the dog, so this was absolutely our last resort and it has been a complete 180 with our dog. He listens to us. He doesn't chew on the furniture anymore. He doesn't chew the carpet up and is respectful. He waits when you tell him to wait before going outside and he's a good dog now and she does wonders. It was once a week and she also held like a practice as an additional day that you could go as optional. She'd work more one-on-one with you or if you just wanted the space to work with the dog so you didn't have those distractions from home where you actually did it she would open up her space and you could just use it. She does leash training and its being on the leash and just making little small corrections to get him to do what you want far as the movement that you do if you do it correctly then the dog will just fall in line. So really to be consistent with the dog and do the leash work and the leg work and the movements and then the dog just fall into place and probably the second week we started seeing results. We worked the limits and a lot of it is homework too. It's working with the dog at home and she also opened up her practice studio to let us use it as needed. Now he's just a dog and he's cute. She is strict when she needs to be. If the dog is acting out she's more strict, but if the dog is doing what the dog is supposed to be doing she is all praise and happiness and lots of love. She is very good with dogs. I'm actually the fourth person from my work that's gone to her. She's amazing. I want to take him back for like round 2. There's advance training classes as well and I think it depends on their maturity level, so he would probably be ready for the second class. When we got him we took him to another training class and it was all treat based, so it wasn't really effective for him. If you got a treat in your hand he'll do whatever you want him to and this was him respecting me as his owner and basically manners, like if you teach a toddler to say thank you and please and it's the same thing with the dogs.
