Mike was very responsive and a professional. He walked me through getting my shorted out a/c working over the phone then came the next day to install a new WiFi thermostat. Mike was punctual, professional and a great technician with a sense of humor since I was my own problem. I highly recommend Mile and Hometown Air for a/c and heating work. I am a customer for life at this point.

We have been using Hometown Air for many years for everything from minor heating system and air conditioner repairs like this one to replacing entire central cooling units. Mike always comes out quickly and his work is excellent. His prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend Hometown Air.

Mike did a quick internal check and then went outside to put the gauges on to get into the details. Ultimately Mike's recommendation was to charge the A/C on the 2nd floor system that wasn't working (a 13yr old 3ton unit) and take the wait and see approach to spot if the failure would reoccur.
The competitor who assessed the system last night had a decidedly different approach which offered two choices:
a. Replace Evaporator, Thermal Expansion Valve, Freon, Fan Motor (outside) and startup kit - but otherwise leave the 13yr old unit in service = $3,800
b. Replace Outside unit and inside components with new for $5,200
As you can see the approaches are dramatically different. Mike has the quiet confidence of a 30yr sole-proprietor veteran who knows his stuff. The competitor had two techs, a sales guy and two trucks. Seemed impressive - but it's more flash than I need. I don't think the competitor was wrong per-say; just a different business model.
Mike charged up the system - it took about 5lbs of R-22. He specifically said the fans, valves etc were all working fine. We discussed the value of having him do the full monty leak check etc. - but given how infrequently I use that upstairs zone; the best bang for buck was charge and see.
We discussed briefly what would be involved if/when a full replacement is decided and Mike would be similar costs to the competitor - but doing a h*** of a lot more work and better quality. Again - sole proprietor (or operates like one) and a seasoned veteran in the field. I would not hesitate to recommend him based on this first interaction.

Great. They are even installing a new larger central air system and 3 return air vents for over a $1000.00 less then this other company was going to charge me for they same size I have now without the return air vents. ( Both companies quoted a Trane a/c unit.

I am a property manager and have used Hometown on many occasions. I know that the work will be done as indicated and both my tenants and my landlords will be satisfied. I highly recommend this company.

We have been using his services for about twenty years. Phillip is so unbelievable! I once called him on a Sunday night after 9pm when out air went out asking him to come by tomorrow. At midnight that same night, Phillip had come out and repaired our air. He is very familiar with our household and knows that we are hot natured and can't sleep without air. He remembered this, said he couldn't sleep himself knowing that we would have trouble, so he just came out and fixed it that night. He has done many services for us between installing three a/c units, the duct work, wiring, and much more. He is very dependable, reasonable and we are very happy with his services.
