We have used them in the past for full remodeling projects. They have done great work for us before, and are currently doing an amazing job. We are very satisfied with their service.

From the beginning I was impressed with the professionalism of Bill (owner) and Shawn (superintendant). Unlike some other contractors I dealt with, William Shaw and Associates went through a rigorous process to come up with a quotation. Due to this process the quotation was also the final price of the work, no additional cost for any “surprises” only when you chose to spend more on finishes than what was agreed upon in the allowances for these finishes. Soon after signing the contract the actual construction started with construction crews and the supervisor on site every day. They left the site (our back yard) reasonably clean after each work day. All work was done according to schedule and the work was finished within the agreed time frame. We had some minor issues with the communication since my wife and I both work and were not always around to answer questions or give directions when necessary. If you choose to use William Shaw and Associates I recommend you do the communication through Shawn and not Bill (no offence to Bill but Shawn is easier to deal with). The end result was excellent, very good quality and no corners were cut to deliver the work. I have to say that I did not expect anything less for the price we paid. This is not a cheap outfit, but the quality is excellent, issues are dealt with in a professional manner and the work is delivered on schedule and to me that makes it worth it! I highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again myself.

William Shaw recently remodeled our home. He drew up the plans and then they did the remodeling of our house, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. He was very very good. We liked our project manager. We like the services from all the other contractors that were hired to help out. They were very easy to work with.
They did the work and we were back in our house within four months. We trusted them and let them in our house without us being here. They are very reliable.
We had actually found them at the home show last year and called them out.

William Shaw's employees assessed the damage left by our former builders we fired. (We were left with an incomplete home, false invoices and lack of structural support in a critical area.) After signing the contract with Shaw, work began within a week and we moved into our home 7 months later. They have worked diligently to complete the punch list and make sure we are satisfied with our home. Working with William Shaw and employees has been without difficulty and we trust them and the contractors they used. We would definitely feel confident to recommend William Shaw to others and would call them again in the future.

My wife and I live in an old Houston neighborhood that is designated as a Historic District and live in a 100 year old home that is on the national register of historic places and well as being designated by the City of Houston as a home of historic significance. Our home was in desperate need of extensive renovations (interior and exterior) and we spent months trying to determine how we should proceed with renovating our home. One thing we knew for certain, the selection of a contractor would be the single most important decision we would make. Throughout the process of developing the design, plans, and the renovation, we were singularly impressed by the professionalism of the staff of William Shaw and Associates and their subcontractors. My wife and I never had difficulty in getting in contact with the staff and all calls were promptly returned. The dedicated project manager assigned to our renovation met with us frequently to update us on the progress of the project and promptly addressed all of our questions and concerns. Since moving back into our home in March 2011, my wife and I have often talked about how pleased we are with the results of the renovation and in particular we both agreed that William Shaw and Associates was the right choice for the project. Post renovation information that you may find useful. The renovation project came in on time and within budget. The energy efficiency recommendations made by William Shaw and Associates are paying larger than expected dividends. Our energy consumption, gas and electric have dropped by 50% over the same pre-renovation period. My wife and I would be happy to answer any questions regarding our renovation and or our experience with William Shaw and Associates.

Will Shaw took my wife's ideas and rendered them into a 3D format. He was very responsive to her input and listened attentively to her desires. The construction work was performed in a timely manner and was executed very well. When an issue arose, the staff at William Shaw and Associates addressed it very quickly and brought the issue to a satisfactory resolution. The job site was well maintained. The subcontractors were very willing to take the necessary steps to meet our desires and expectations. The professionalism of the staff was remarkable. We are very pleased with our finished project and recommend William Shaw and Associates to all our friends for remodeling and construction. We would definitely use them for any future projects. Every day it is a pleasure to wake up in our "new" home.

Overall, the end result was good. + points: Excellent in terms of design. They use 3D modeling to assist in design + visualize result prior to construction. Post-construction we have enjoyed this redesigned kitchen very much. - points: Very expensive. Can take a while to get responses from project managers via phone/email, although they do eventually respond and get the job done. Need to be more attentive to detail in certain areas. We had to monitor the project on a daily basis to pinpoint some actual and potential errors which they eventually corrected. Overall: If you need a major redesign for a room, have extra money to spare, and time availability to monitor the progess, this company is worth looking into.

William Shaw and Associates was, by far, the worst contractor I ever had to deal with. And, I have dealt with many remodelers. Every single step of the remodeling was botched, including demolition! I had to bring in other contractors to fix the electrical and the roof. Mr. Shaw himself was very cordial and professional while selling his services. But, once the contract was signed, he did not want to be bothered, and was consistently bullying and less than truthful. I had to watch every action they took to ensure it was done correctly after the first week - otherwise, I cannot imagine the additional problems I would have today. And, they really did not like me pointing out problems, errors, etc. at all. In fact, the "manager" even argued with me where a door was supposed to go. He then was going to prove to me I was wrong by showing me the blueprints. It was only after he reviewed the blueprint for several minutes that he realized he was wrong and the door was out of place by 4 feet! To recap: they failed to lock the house and gate several times and left the house wide open, despite promises several times to keep it locked, they failed to demolish everything even after the third try, the electrical system was so messed up, I was told that I was lucky the air conditioner was not destroyed (it was off due to it being winter), the plumbing was done incorrectly and the plumber tried to reinstall my 50 year old steel pipes, despite new copper pipes being in the contract (do you think that was a "mistake?"), the insulation was incorrectly installed and I have just been told by an energy auditor that it is not up to code, tile had to be redone in one of the showers, doors were hung incorrectly and they tried to tell me my house had a bad foundation (not true, got them hung correctly), the new roof leaked, they stained windows and doors the wrong color, they damaged another portion of my house that was NOT being remodeled, and this comes no where near exhausting the list. To top it all off, he even told one of my best friends to leave MY house because he wanted to talk to me privately! I really had to push back with him (I am male). I cannot imagine how he would treat a woman if she wanted things done correctly. What is a real shame is that I checked with one of his references beforehand. She told me he was OK. I later found out she was not really happy with him. She just id not want to say anything bad. Avoid this contractor!
Response from WILLIAM SHAW & ASSOCIATES
"I have been a successful and professional remodeling contractor for 27 years and have hundreds of happy clients. It is unfortunate that sometimes you select a client to work with when you should not. This particular client was extremely difficult to work with for several reasons. His home had been remodeled several times in the past which was discovered during demolition. Much of the previous work was "botched". As a result the client held us responsible for correcting all the previous mistakes at our expense. This included issues with drywall, electrical, and roofing issues. I refused to submit to the clients insistance that these were our problems. Looking back this only fractured the relationship and the project was under a microscope from that point on. Our project manager did make mistakes, but these were corrected. The client also became frustrated when calls and email were not instantly returned. Project Managers have a very difficult job, juggling many duties, attending meetings, and supervise multiply projects. Even after explaining that we would get back to him as soon as possible it was never quick enough. It was also extremely difficult to work with a client who perceives he knows more than anyone else about remodeling. My project manager as well as myself butted heads with the client many times arguing about how things should be done versus the plans and scope of work. However in the end if you look at the finished product, two beautifully designed and remodeled bathrooms and master bedroom, you will admit that the quality of our work speaks for itself. All of us in our business lives run up against someone who we just should not of done business with. We are happy to provide a reference list with clients who are happy they chose us to do their design and remodeling. Give us the opportunity to prove our customer service and build your trust in our capabilities. If you do have any questions please feel free to call Bill Shaw at 281-932-6414."

The addition makes the house larger and more beautiful. Shaw did a brilliant job and we're very happy with it. It increases the size and value of the house by a large margin. They did everything including masonry, carpentry and electrical. They also worked with us for the interior decorating. It took a total of ninety days to complete. They tried their best to keep the mess to a minimum while they were still working.

The doors look fantastic and increase security at the same time. The doorways had to be enlarged to fit the new doors in. The snug fit eliminates the warping problems we had before. They were informative, as well as open minded, while doing the work. This job took a few days to do correctly, but we're glad they took their time on this because it was done extremely well.
