I love love love Dr. Palm at VCA Southeast. He is one of those who just speaks animal and doesn't really have to have a lot of diagnostics to know what's going on with an animal. Granted I'm biased bc I know him personally, but still I thought I'd throw a shout out about how he handled euthanizing my dog for me. He was compassionate about the situation, and sensitive to the pets needs as well as my own. The staff at VCA were courteous and professional.
If you have a sick pet, Dr. Palm is very reasonable and keeps costs down as much as possible. I've known him well enough to know that he doesn't do a lot of fancy tricks that cost a lot of money and don't change the outcome for the pet.
I know people now call the clinic to see if he's working bc they know he is awesome and reasonable.

My inside-only cat scooted outside while I was running back and forth prepping dinner on our barbeque grill. At some point between getting out of the house and dinner being done (around 15 minutes) my cat was bitten by something. I picked him up and put him back inside, and an hour later, his paw was twice the size of normal, he was limping, and my usually quiet kitty was meowing in pain. Within two hours of the incident we were in the VCA Emergency Vet hospital. He was thoroughly examined, paw was shaved, diagnosis was made and medication administered. I was given extensive after-care instructions, and a diagnosis sheet to take to my family vet. Care was excellent. Staff, vet techs and doctor were all caring and professional. I was very impressed with the service for the price.

In general, I feel that the staff is professional and caring and they do a good job. Occasionally you might have to wait as you would in any emergency room. Now and then things don't go perfectly, but that can happen anywhere. They do the job they are there to do and they have saved several of my pets several times. Yes, they are expensive, but consider that you are paying to have a vet available to you at all hours of the night and that puts it in perspective.

Animal Emergency Clinic SE was a godsend when my cat got so sick. It was very good to know that there is an emergency clinic for animals in Houston. The staff were very conscientious and caring. Everyone seemed very capable and efficient. It did cost a lot, but I think it's worth it if you love your pet.
