From August 6, 2013 to October 19, 2013 our family home was shown 9 or 10 times by other real estate firms to potential buyers. That averages 1 showing a week.. During this time our agent nor his firm ever showed the house to a potential buyer. The house is located in Friendswood, Texas and our agent had assured us that they sold houses in Friendswood. When we asked to be released from our contract to allow another real estate firm to try to sell the house, we were told it would cost us $500. The contract had a term of one year. We decided that the house could not stay with our agent for all that time with such little progress, so we paid the $500. Please beware of any realtor wanting a real estate contract for longer then 120 days. I believe that those realtors are only interested in locking up your property as a listing but don't want to put in the time to sell it. They would be glad to split a commission with a realtor from another firm that puts the time in to sell the listing.
