U-Haul has older equipment and I had another company before which turned out much better. U-Haul the air conditioning didn't work and so they refunded me 75 for that. It was older equipment. I wouldn't use them again. There are trucks not up to date. They are just older. When they gave me a drop off location it was like 50 miles away. I know there are other ones closer by. The difficulties was not referred either because that was where they sent me. There were other U-Haul's closer by. When I went to get it, they were trying to talk me into upgrade me into 28 foot for the same price. I was like no way because I had to drive it so I wanted the 16 foot. So, I returned it and the problem too is that you are supposed to have the gas gauge like at three fourth. Which means like you have to gas it when you are towing it in. That was not what it was when I returned it but I had to go 50 miles and it was raining. I would prefer the other company if I had to do it again. The cost was about the same price as the other company. I had to go from West Florida to Huston area. I would give them a 'C' because of the equipment and the communication. I had to call a 1800 number when I got to town and then they would tell you where to go. If you are new in town and you don't know where something is, you have to check it out on your GPS or something. The price was pretty much the same but they did give me a rebate because of the air conditioning problem. Communication could be better. I wish I had checked it close for equipment when I looked inside.

The U-box reps in the Raleigh area were WAY to bust to explain things to me, but I wanted to write this so that everyone would BEWARE of the hidden cost of U-box rentals! I did not have all the information so I was not comparing apples to oranges when I was price comparing.
First know that the $974 they charged me for the U-box was for the and quot;moveand quot; only. They then charged me a $85.00 and quot;rental feeand quot; for the box (yep I am serious!) AND THEN I could either have it delivered for $245 OR I could pick it up, BUT, what I didn't know is that if I picked it up, I was charged a and quot;Trailer rental feeand quot; of $28 on each end.
That was crazy! It was like renting a truck but being charged extra for the tires! The U-box SITS ON A TRAILER! It was all the little expenses that added up. I would say nickel and dimed, but it was more like $50 and $100's.
If you price shop, please remember to ask about stupid charges because I found them the hard way, in my bank account! I could not believe my eyes, it seemed so stupid to pay to rent the box, to move the box and then to bring the box to my home. YIKES!
The folks at U-Haul on Gessner were very nice, and I would use U-Haul again (I mean what choice do you have really?) but I would NEVER use a U-box again and I would strongly advise people to look into Pods as an option because their price is more inclusive.

It was easy to deal with them. The young lady that took care of me was able to state what I need and got it done.

Made reservations online and they were changed twice to other sides of town then where I was and where going. Called and told to wait till day before so I cancelled and called the local people myself. They were very nice and gave me reservations, I called to double check the day before given other experience, and everything was set. Went to pick up and paperwork was ready, though the price had to be adjusted, was higher then should. Did have to ask for the dolly, he thought he placed it in the truck but hadn't. Was told could drop off next day. Went over truck and it's miles and tank. Used it and came back same day after close, went to look at it's condition for the check list when noticed the miles were wrong at pick up (only by 3, guy seemed surprised I had a problem with that). Was not given a lock to lock up dolly but did not have a problem. So, called the next day and it was fixed, they will not fax or mail paper work you have to pick up your final receipt. Very nice people.

SERVICE REP WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. TRUCK WAS DIRTY, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, I WAS VERY SATISFIED.
