Two Men & A Truck

I've used Two Men and a Truck twice before with great outcomes. This most recent move, however, couldn't have been more different. We had 9 items of furniture for them to move, no boxes, nothing else...9 pieces of furniture. The move was 12 mins away. It took them over 6 hours and that was with my family helping to move the items into the new place because we had an appt and couldn't believe it was taking so long. We also did not have them put anything back together....6 HOURS FOR 3 MEN TO MOVE 9 PIECES OF FURNITURE, 3 MILES AWAY! Either these men had been told to intentionally delay or they were not fit to carry out the job. Every time i looked, one was outside smoking, the other was lost somewhere in the truck. Add to this, they left cigarette butts and empty water bottles in my front yard and came asking for water because they brought nothing with them. Needless to say I will never contract this company again.

Everything went great., Was about 2 hours or moving.

We moved in July from a four bedroom home to a two bedroom apartment and followed all instructions to make sure everything was disassembled and ready for move day. The movers seemed nice and were impressed how ready we were with the disassembly and boxing up. Although we were in a 4 bedroom house, we were moving only 40% of the furniture. The rest was to to be moved to storage by someone else (me) on another day. Because we were interested in a quick move, we paid for 3 men to move us. They seemed to move in slow motion and took 14 hours to move me 10 miles away. I could not believe what I was seeing. I called the manager on the way to the new place and he assured me that they would make it right. He called me the next day, and said he would deduct two and a half hours and we needed to pay for 11.5 hours ($1929.56) for our two bedroom apartment. Please see the pictures of our entire contents of our apartment furniture and decide if this was should take 14 hours to move. They dropped my couch against a wall in my old house, requiring a repair of a hole 3"x 1" to be repaired and the wall to be repainted. A couch ended up with a 3" gash in the back of it. They also broke my wife's antique curved glass display case. The manager offered to repair the display case and told my wife he would pay us $25.00 to repair the wall. He said they would just "throw some spackle in it", which really infuriated my wife. Then he refused to fix the display case because my wife got upset with him. After a few days, I got a call from the office stating they would pay $300.00 to us for the wall, couch, and display case. After unpacking our boxes, almost ALL of the boxes marked "Fragile" had broken items in them. All the "fragile" boxes were packed well with tissue and bubble wrap. It seemed like they intentionally did that because the boxes that were not as carefully packed with bubble wrap and tissue, did not have broken items. Only the ones marked "Fragile" seemed to have issues. To make matters worse, they never sent me the check they said they would. I wonder if they claimed it with their insurance? These people do not care about you, your belongings, nor do they care about integrity.

The move went fine. The movers did not waste any time packing or driving to the new location. I had one mirror break but they filled out paperwork and i am in process of getting reimbursed. They had packed it well but vibrations took their toll. I do not blame the movers.

Fast and efficient

I Googled a bit before settling on TMaaT, primarily because of Caroline's professionalism during my initial call. They were about mid-range in terms of price. We scheduled for the 12p - 2p slot, and around 12:30p, Caroline called me to inform me that the movers were going to be around 1.5 hours late. As I wasn't in a time crunch, I wasn't concerned. Andre and Darrell called me, apologized, and gave me an ETA of 4p, which they hit on the spot. As the contract was hourly, I was slightly concerned as we'd now slipped into the start of peak-traffic, and was prepping myself for an argument if the truck took much more time than expected to reach my home. I left for the my home about 5 minutes before the truck, used Google Maps, and I kid you not, the truck arrived at my home before I did. That was when I realized these guys were the real deal. Upon arriving at my condo, the team immediately provided the appropriate paperwork to the front desk, and created two stacks (800lbs each) of tiles, which they quickly loaded into the elevators and to the entrance of my home. As I'm in the middle of a minor renovation, the team had to further break down the stacks and individually haul the boxes up a flight of stairs. I've rarely seen people work so efficiently and without complaint, at a task which was essentially backbreaking, ESPECIALLY at an hourly rate (i.e. no incentive to complete the job quickly). Andre and Darrell cracked jokes while hauling 41 40lb boxes of tile, up a flight of stairs, non-stop, flawlessly, for an hour. As we had a few minutes left before the hour mark, they also graciously moved a full-sized washer/dryer pair down the stairs, as I'm swapping them out for new units. No wall dings, no scratches, nothing. These guys were seriously awesome. I mean seriously. Highly recommended and would call them again, anytime. If I could provide one recommendation, TMaaT should provide back braces and gloves to their contractors, perhaps emblazoned with their company logo. It feels like that small investment would greatly improve the lives and extend the productivity of their team. Perhaps it'd also reduce the likelihood of accidental drops, as well (none occurred during my move). Best, Sumanth
