The Goddard School Houston (West)

I chose this school after touring several others in the area. What set it apart for me was the fact that they require their lead teachers to have a degree in childhood education. Most of the other preschools don't require it. I wasn't interested in hiring a glorified babysitter. Many of the other schools also smelled like daycares--you know what I'm talking about. Goddard smells clean, it didn't hurt that classical music played in the halls, instead of screaming children. Also, I didn't see a single runny nose when we toured Goddard, unlike some other snot-laden places, which told me that Goddard actually does send kids home when they are sick and they keep the classrooms and toys clean.
My 7 month old daughter has been in the infant room since early February 2014.
When she first started, they were searching for a lead teacher. At that time, there were two very sweet assistant teachers holding down the fort until the lead was hired. Fortunately, it was worth the wait and in March 2014, they hired Ms. Kristen.
My husband and I feel extremely fortunate that she and her assistant teacher, Ms. Graciela, are at Goddard. They are both loving, cheerful people that are nurturing and patient with all of the kids. Our daughter is in great hands.
She is happy when I drop her off and happy when I pick her up. When I walk in the classroom, which is always clean and well-maintained, my daughter is interacting with the other kids and very content. They have daily activities and weekly themes that help drive the curriculum. (I realize it sounds silly for an infant to have a curriculum, but they pick up a lot more than you give them credit for and I appreciate that my daughter is always being challenged.) Despite the fact that there are 8 babies in the room, I'm always amazed at how calm and collected everyone is when I drop in. (I struggle to keep my own house peaceful and I'm only trying to juggle one baby!)
The office staff is always kind and polite and, if I've ever had feedback, they have been very receptive to hearing it. If you're looking for a school for your child, Goddard is a great option.
